Roland de Wolfe was the first person ever to win a World Poker Tour title and European Poker Tour title.
He was born in the United Kingdom and comes from a gambling family. He attended Birmingham University where he studied journalism. It seemed fitting that he found a job with Inside Edge, an English poker magazine. As he followed the tournament trail and reported on them, de Wolfe began playing poker and found he had a knack for it.
He soon quit his journalism job when poker proved to be more lucrative. He continued following the circuit, but as a player instead of a reporter. In 2005, de Wolfe defeated defending champion Juha Helppi at the WPT Grand Prix de Paris. Then in 2006, he took down the EPT Dublin event.
