End Of Day 2BJul 11, '07 PearlJammed By ColsonWith a board of 8 6 4 7 Carl Olson bet $40,000 and Jon Turner called. The 8 fell on the river and Olson bet $50,000. After a few minutes of consideration Turner called. Olson quickly revealed 6 5 for a straight. Turner flipped up his 9 8 before sliding them into the muck while Olson raked the monster pot. Turner's stack was crippled, and he was forced to move all-in later in the hour. Both Thor Hansen and Carl Olson called, and after a board of 9 9 8 9 K Hansen bet out and Olson folded. Hansen took his bet back and before he revealed his hand Turner flipped up 10 9 for quads. He was still dangerously short despite winning that pot, however, and was eliminated only minutes later. Hansen Glad Of Table Break On a board of 10 9 3 K seat two bet $44,500 and Hansen came back over the top, announcing that he was all-in. His opponent folded and Hansen picked up the pot. Hansen was later overheard saying how tough his table was to Greg Mueller. "I mean, [at that table] I don't want to play a big pot. I don't want aces and all of a sudden to have someone check raise me on a 10-9-6 board." Hansen's table broke midway through the level, sending his tough and deep stacked opponents Hevad Kahn and Sorel Mizzi to other tables and easing Hansen's mind. Negreanu Busts Team PokerStars member Daniel negreanu has been eliminated from the $10,000 championship event. His elimination was announced by Nollan Dolla, and many in the field applauded. Some were probably just happy to have one less tough veteran in the field. Can't See The Forrest For His Big Slick After only a few players limped into the pot Ted Forrest raised to $20,000 from the small blind. A late position limper quickly moved all-in for roughly $10,000 more. Forrest thought for just a few seconds before calling with A K. His opponent flipped up the K 9 and Forrest looked as if he was going to pad his stack. The cards had other plans, however, and the board came down K 9 2 4 10. Forrest opponent seemed slightly abashed as he raked the pot. Against the same player Forrest called a $51,000 bet on a board of J 9 6 A 6 with J Q. His opponent revealed the J 7, and they split the pot. After scrapping at his table for most of the night, Forrest ended with around $255,000. The night came to an end shortly after midnight, with play lasting exactly as long as it did yesterday. Approximately 459 players remained at the end of today, which means just over 800 players will start day three tomorrow. With payouts starting at 621st place, the money bubble should burst within a few levels. Make sure to check back tomorrow for all the day three action here at Cardplayer.com. McClain is currently a short stack, and got a reprieve when he was able to sniff out a river bluff by his opponent and double up. With the board reading J 6 2 9 2, McClain's opponent bet $30,000 which more than covered his remaining chips. McClain announced, "I think your weak here," and made the call. His opponent showed K Q, and McClain showed 9 8 for the win. We won't be seeing McClain's agony face just yet. I'll See Your 56 And Raise You 25 Table 56 was already impressive, but with the addition of one more notable player, it truly becomes worth mentioning. Two poker's old guard are seated alongside, two of the up-and-coming young internet players. In seat 1 Hans "Tuna" Lund sets up shop, while seated across in seats 4-6 are Thor Hansen, Carl "colson" Olson, and Jon "PearlJammer" Turner. So far no large confrontations have occured, but there's plenty of play left tonight. This table is nothing compared to Table 25 which features 3 of the players in the top 5 in chips in tournament. The most recent addition to the table is Sorel "ImperIum" Mizzi, who was recently seen struggling to carry 6 full racks over to the stacked table (albeit 3 of these racks are black chips). He greats the Great Dane Gus Hansen in seat 7, and PokerStars Supernova Hevad "RaiNKhaN" Khan, both who are nursing huge chip stacks. Currently two ESPN cameras, about 5 media reporters, and the kitchen sink are camped out around the table waiting for some fireworks. John Murphy Loses Freeroll Action is folded around to John Murphy who raises from late position to $6,000. Seat 7 reraises all in for $30,000 from the cutoff. Seat 1 raises to $60,000 from the big blind to isolate, but Murphy then moves all in over the top for about $180,000. Seat 1 folds Q Q face up, and Chip Jett commends him for a good fold, but then Murphy flips up A K, while Seat 7 holds 5 5. The board runs out 8 6 5 6 3, and Seat 7 manages to double up, while Murphy ends up almost where he started the hand. Dario Wins Big PokerStars wunderkind Dario Minieri collected a huge pot after his pocket Kings were outflopped. Mineri pushed all in over the top of Seat 2's raise on the flop of Q 10 9 with K K, and was called fairly quickly, elicting a frustrated response from Mineri, as he was behind Seat 2's Q 9. The turn caught Mineri up quick as the J peeled off giving him the straight. The J on the river was not enough to save Seat 2 and he was eliminated sending well over $100,000 to Mineri. Play Concludes For The NightJun 28, '07 Play has officially ended for the night. The bubble was burst after only three hands in the hand-for-hand period. David Bach moved all in for his last $18,300, and he was called by the player in Seat 1 who had him exactly covered. Bach had two pair, Kings and twos, but Seat One turned over Kings and eights for a better two pair.Carl Olson, Isabelle Mercier, Jeff Shulman, and Fred Goldberg were some of the pros to be eliminated in the last hour. Shulman lost a race to Jamie Gold with pocket Jacks to Gold's A-Q. Goldberg was the victim of a horrendous beat. Goldberg moved all in on a flop of 10 5 4, and his opponent went deep into the tank. Goldberg called the clock on him, and he called just as time was winding down. Goldberg showed K K and his opponent tabled Q 10. Goldberg's face dropped as the dealer dealt out the 10 on the turn. The 5 fell on the river and Goldberg was eliminated in 82nd place just out of the money. Congratulations were announced for Phil Hellmuth for his 62nd career World Series cash, and Men Nguyen was also lauded for this 59th career cash. The tournament director's first announced that it was his 56th cash, and he was quick to correct him. Defending champion Jeff Madsen is still alive in the tournament, but he is on the short stack, losing a pot to Justin Bonomo on the last hand of the evening. Dutch Boyd, who won a short-handed bracelet last year, is among the chip leaders with close to $300,000, having raked a huge pot in a boat-over-boat situation. Also still alive are Allen Cunningham, Joe Beevers, Ram Vaswani, Mark Vos, Scott Clements, and Tobey Maguire among others. The players will return at 2pm tomorrow to play down to the final nine Notable Chip Counts

Round of 32Jun 20, '07 Kirk Morrison is the first player eliminated in this 5th round of play. Morrison found himself at a disadvantage early, he pushed in with Jacks only to have his opponent wake up with Kings. Carl Olson followed him in 31st place his top pair unable to fade his opponent's flush draw. Both will earn $16,582.Shannon Shorr is primed to make the round of 16 after crippling Alex Bolotin early on in their match. With an eight-high straight on the board, Shorr bet $40,000. After much consideration, Bolotin called, thinking Shorr was trying to buy it. Shorr showed him a nine and took down the pot. Eyes are also on Phil Gordon, Scotty Nguyen, Aaron Been, and Vanessa Selbst in their matches tonight. Englishman John Kabbaj has a near unassailable chip lead over Carmel Petresco and Thomas Wahlroos from Finland is also a huge chip leader over Roman Paradiso. Players Staying AggressiveJun 08, '07 It only took two minutes to get down to the final 10 tables and only 15 minutes to get to the final 9. On those 9 tables is two particularly stacked ones.Table 78 is lined with pros, including Eric "Sheets" Haber, Matt "SamENole" Smith, Matt Brady and Fred Goldberg. Table 76 isn't far behind with Rep Porter, Joe Awada, Carl Olson and Matt "Choppy" Kay. There is a crowd of about 40 people lining the rail near J. C. Tran's table. Although many are looking over to see Erik Seidel and "Miami" John Cernuto at there respective tables as well. During the level, Carl Olson was able to double through Rep Porter. Porter called Olson's all in showing A8, but was dominated by Olson's AK. The board came K76103, and Olson narrowly avoided chopping the pot to double up to around $53,000. We are also down to our last remaining female participant, Annette Nichols, who is sitting with $95,000. Player Tags: Erik Seidel, Joe Awada, Carl Olson, Matt Brady, Annette Nichols |
