Kenny Nguyen raised to 1,000 from middle position and was called by Ryan Laplante in the hijack. The action folded to Ben Palmer in the small blind and he three-bet to 4,200.

Nguyen took some time before reraising to 11,000 and Laplante folded. Palmer then moved all-in, and Nguyen looked disgusted.

Nguyen only had 8,700 behind, but he was clearly having second thoughts about the hand. He ultimately decided that he was priced in, and made the call with AK.

Palmer showed him the bad news with AA and Nguyen never got a sweat on a jack-high board. Palmer now has 47,000 in chips.

Day 1 Ends with 490 Players

Day 1 has come to a close in Event No. 18 ($1,500 no-limit hold’em) and of the 3,157 players who entered the tournament just 490 players remain. The money bubble will burst when 324 players remain tomorrow and that’s when players will start earning their cut of the $4,261,950 prize pool. The eventual champion will walk away with $735,400.

Kenny Nguyen holds the chip lead with 110,600 and Alan Sass is also in the top 10 with 79,000. Other notables who accumulated a lot of chips on day 1 include Erick Lindgren, Chris Moorman, Christian Harder, and Jon Turner.
