Kevin Calenzo Crippled but Fighting
Aug 31, '10
Kevin Calenzo recently picked a very bad time to put most of his chips at risk against Blair Hinkle, who held pocket aces. They held for Hinkle this time and Calenzo was left with just 20,000 after the hand.
Since that time he doubled up with A-J against the 9-3 of Hinkle on a loaded A-K-Q-J-K board and then he tripled up to take his stack off life support.
Charles Moore raised to 45,000 preflop from the cutoff on the hand, Calenzo made the all-in call for 42,000 from the small blind and then Daniel Biddle reraised to 145,000 from the big blind. Moore mucked and the two live players flipped over their cards:
Biddle: QQ
Calenzo: A9
Board: 862107
Calenzo won the hand on the river and he grew his stack to more than 100,000.
