Big Hands and Storylines:
Porter takes down pot with big raise
Devin Porter, who finished third in an event earlier in the series, was one of four places to see a flop of J42. A player form middle position bet ouf 750, and Porter raised him another 1,550 chips from the button. The decision was back to the bettor, and he ultimately folded. After the hand Porter had roughly 4,000 chips.
Rizen loses thanks to shaky play by opponent
With the board showing 422, Eric 'Rizen' Lynch bet 450 into the pot and got one call. The turn was the K, and this time Lynch checked. His opponent then bet 1,000, and Lynch quickly raised to 2,000. But then his opponent reraised all in for just a little over 2600 and Lynch made the call with QQ, well behind the AK his opponent held. Lynch said that he expected to see nines, tens or jacks when he raised on the turn, not A-K. Lynch is down to 700 chips and is at a tough table. Jon 'Pearljammed Turner and Bertrand 'ELKY' Gospilli are there are as well.
Seif Flushes on River
Mark Seif was in the big blind and checked his option as four players saw the flop which came 1063. All players checked and the 7 came on the turn. Seif bet 300 and drew one call. The 9 came on the river and both players checked again. Seif showed K8 for the flush and his opponent folded.
Markholt Calls, Then Folds
Lee Markholt was in the big blind when the player under the gun raised to 250. Everybody folded to Markholt who called. The flop came 977. Markholt checked, and his opponent bet out 475, to which Markholt folded.

$1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed - And Then There Were Six
Jun 06, '08
Players Left: 6 of 1,236
Eliminations:
Andrew Fegan
Dave Zand
Kevin MacPhee
Jared Okun
Big Hands and Storylines:
MacPhee Out 8th
Kevin MacPhee and Nathan Templeton got all-in pre-flop. MacPhee held 88 but was a 4-to-1 underdog against Templeton’s QQ. The A74 flop left MacPhee with only a single out, the 8 of hearts. Neither the turn nor river made MacPhee his miracle set, however, and he was crippled, left with only 50,000 chips. He would be eliminated shortly after by, who else, Nathan Templeton.
Zand Blasted: Out on the Final Table Bubble
Nathan Templeton raised to 28,000 from the cutoff, Dave Zand called on the button, Devon Porter also called from the small blind, and John Conkright came along from the big blind. The table saw the first four-handed flop of the evening: JTT. Those sweating from the rail sensed action, and turned out to be quite perceptive. Conkright wasted no time in leading out with a bet of 100,000. Templeton quickly folded, but Zand was not so fast to act. Sliding out three stacks of orange chips, he declared a raise to 300,000. Porter resignedly mucked his hand (later confessing to folding A-J) and Conkright moved all-in. Zand called, and the two showed their hands:
Conkright: KT
Zand: 98
Conkright flopped trip tens but was only a slight favorite against Zand’s open-ended straight flush draw. The turn delivered the J, making the river sweat much more tolerable for Conkright. When the last card came 7. He raked in a massive pot, taking him over 1 million for the night.
Zand was left with one stack of yellow chips totaling 30,000. He was eliminated shortly after when his QT was felled by Devon Porter’s AT on a board of 48442.

Eliminations:

Richard Tatalovich
Big Hands and Storylines:
Ta-Ta to Tatalovich
Richard Tatalovich moved all-in from the button with AQ and Dave Zand quickly followed suit, moving all-in from the small blind. The big blind folded and Tatalovich saw the bad news when Zand, seemingly apologetically, showed his AA to the man on his right. The board – 87525 – did nothing for Tatalovich and he was eliminated, taking home $19,570 for his 12th place finish. Zand is now top of the heap with 630,000 chips in front of him.
Shilyuk Doubles Through Devon Porter
The shortest stack remaining in the tournament, Anatoly Shilyuk, moved all-in for 85,000 from one off the button. Action folded around to Devin Porter who insta-called and tabled QQ. Shilyuk’s AT was trailing until the flop came AT3 and put him in the lead. The turn was the 6, which gave Porter outs for a chopped pot, but the river was a teasing 3, doubling Shilyuk up to 190,000.
Von Halle Hits the Rail
Shilyuk raised to 22,000 from the button. In the small blind, Jon Van Halle looked at his cards and immediately slid his stack – 160,000 – toward the middle of the table. Devon Porter in the big blind thought for a good long while before moving all-in himself. Shilyuk folded and the two revealed their cards:
Van Halle: QJ
Porter: AQ
The dealer peeled off 55298 and Jan Von Halle was eliminated, perhaps taking solace knowing that he’ll be leaving tonight with Katja Thater.

Bust Outs
Aces Cracked Again
Jan Von Halle shoved all in preflop and was called by Andrew Scott, who tabled AA and was ahead of Von Halle's JJ. But the board ran out 985710, and Von Halle backdoored a straight to send Scott to the rail and take the chip lead. This happened at the same table where Ryan Young's aces were cracked during the last round.

End Of The Day
Jun 22, '07
The past level saw a flurry of eliminations after the bubble burst in first half of the hour, after very quick hand-for-hand play. Per usual, players were much more willing to take races after they made the money, and it seemed that every table had someone all in with 9-9 against A-J. Paul Wolfe found himself in a better situation than that, with J-J against the A 10 of Devin Porter. The situation changed drastically after the flop brought A Q 8 . The turn and river did not improve Wolfe and he was sent to the rail in 50th ($4,797). David Colclough was also eliminated in the race-fest. Thorsson A Q ran into an opponents A-K on an A-A-K-x-x board and got his stack severely crippled. Only 46 players remain going into day two. With only 37 players to lose until the final table, day two should be short compared to the second days of many other events at the WSOP. Make sure to check in as play resumes tomorrow at 3 p.m. here at Cardplayer.com.

Level 10 Recap

Chip Movements
If tournament poker is like war, than chips are like soldiers. Just as troop movements tell the story of a battle, chip movements tell the story of an event. Devin Porter was at one time among the chip leaders, but has taken a down-turn recently. Though still around the average, Porter is certainly want to regain his earlier momentum. Daniel Alaei has amassed a pile of chips, which he has arranged like a fortress in front of him. William Thorrson is in a similar situation, with his chip castle topped off by a high central tower reaching almost to his chin. The ever dangerous tournament veteran T.J. Cloutier has an unadorned but solid stack.
Hachem Eliminated
Tony Hachem joined his brother on the rail this past hour when he was all-in preflop with K-9 against 10-10. He caught a king on the flop, but the river brought a 10 to give his opponent trips and eliminate him from the tournament.
Only 72 players remain, and with the payouts beginning at 54th place, the money bubble is set to burst on the first day of play. Make sure to check in for more updates here at Cardplayer.com.

On the very next hand, Praz Banzi limped from the cutoff, Bronstein limped from the button, and the small blind called, and big blind checked. The flop came Q 10 2, both blinds checked to Banzi, who bet $20,000. Bronstein raised to $60,000, Banzi thought for a moment and moved all in. Bronstein called after a matter of seconds and showed Q 6, Banzi was elated, and tabled Q J. His elation turned to disgust when the 6 peeled off on the turn. Hour Three Update
Jun 23, '07
There are currently 25 players left on three tables.
In the redraw T.J. Cloutier was moved to table 61 with Gioi Luong, Praz Banzi, and William Thorsson. Banzi and Luong are among the chip leaders while Cloutier and Thorsson have some work to do.
Devin Porter is having fun with his tablemates. He jokingly said that he had never gotten this far in a tournament before, despite his final table earlier in the World Series.
The blinds are large enough that many of the short stacks can make an all-in move before the flop so these last eliminations have been much more reminiscient of no-limit holdem than pot-limit. The eliminations are coming fast.
