Omaha 8/b - Jean-Robert Bellande Scoops a Multi-Way Pot
In a six-way limped pot, and on a flop of K Q 10 , the action got checked around to Jean-Robert Bellande who bet 75 from the cutoff. Victor Ramdin called from the button, Mark Gregorich folded from the small blind, the big blind and seat 6 called. The turn was the 3 and Bellande bet 150. Everyone folded except seat 6 who made the call. The river was the 9 and both players checked. "That was a scary river", said Bellande who turned over K K 7 3 for top set. There was no low hand and Bellande scooped the pot.
Razz - Victor Ramdin Loses a Close One
The player in seat 7 brought it in for 25 and Victor Ramdin completed to 75 with the 5 . The player in seat 6 called with the A and seat 7 folded to the raise.

Sica Still In It, Zeidman Climbing
Jun 09, '08
Note: Players are now on a 20 minute break.
Blinds/Antes: 400-800 with a 100 Ante
Big Hands:
Gregrorich Climbing
On a board that read 5 2 10 8 , Mark Gregorich fired off a bet and was called by his opponent. The river was the A and both players elected to check. Gregorich showed 10 9 while his opponent showed 7 7 . Gregorich took the pot with his pair and improved his stack to around 38,000.
A Nice Pot, Chased Down by a Cold Beer
Sergey Rybachenko raised to 2,200 before the flop. Michael Sica was next to act and moved all in for another 6,000. Rybachenko went into the tank to make his decision. While he was doing that, a cocktail waitress arrived with a beer for Sica. He took a drink from his cup and Rybachenko mucked as Sica improved to 13,000 in chips, quenching his thirst at the same time.
Sexton Chased From a Pot
The board was 6 3 2 . Keith Sexton fired a shot of 3,200 into the pot. Jesper Hougarrd in seat 1 raised another 5,000 to 8,200 total. Sexton thought for a minute and then mucked his hand. His stack was down to 17,100.
Zeidman Takes It Down
Before the flop, John Wagner raised to 2,500 from seat 1. One opponent made the call and Cory Zeidman followed suit. The flop came Q 9 3 . Wagner checked and the first caller bet 4,400. Zeidman raised to 11,400 total. Wagner and the other player mucked their hands and Zeidman raked in the pot. His stack was around 35,000 after the hand.
No More Mullets
Seven players saw a flop of K 6 5 . Action was checked around to Darren Rice, the man with the most magnificent mullet known to all mankind. He bet 3,600. Action folded to Sergey Rybachenko who popped it to 10,600 total. Michael Sica was next to act and he went into the tank. After much thought, he mucked his hand. The rest of the players folded around and action was back on Rice, who moved all in. Rybachenko thought for some time and made the call, tabling 6 5 for two pair. Rice showed A K for top pair and was in need of help. Sica was thrilled to see the hands, telling the table he folded K-Q. The turn was the 4 and the river was the 2 . After much counting, Rice was covered and he was out of the tournament.

Big Hands:
Gregorich Takes a Pot
Mark Gregorich raised before the flop to 1,800. Craig Marquis made the call and the flop came A K 2 . Both players checked and the turn came with the 6 . Gregorich bet 2,500 and Marquis mucked. After the hand, Gregorich was at around 24,000.
Out of the Muck and Onto the Rail
The floor was called after Mark Radoja moved all in. Apparently, his cards were inserted into the muck by the dealer. After a brief account of what happened, the floorman retrieved Radoja's A 5 from the muck. Joseph Bolnick had already called before the episode and tabled 8 8 . The flop was almost fatal for Radoja as it came 9 8 7 , giving Bolnick a set. But there was a glimmer of hope as Radoja had a gutshot straight draw. But the turn was the 3 and the Q on the river sealed his fate and he was out.
Okun Crippled, Then Ousted
Jared Michael Okun showed pocket jacks after the board had run out 10 3 6 2 5 . He was dismayed to find that they were no good when John McKinney tabled 4 4 for a straight on the river. Okun was down to just 300 and was eliminated on the very next hand.

This time, seat 1 bet out and was called by Boyd and seat 7. Seat 1 showed A-7-5-4 for a rivered straight and the nut low, and neither Boyd or seat 7 showed before they mucked their cards. After not taking any part of the big pot, Body's stack was under 4,000.
Matt Savage Scoops With the Wheel
On a flop of Q 5 3 , beloved tournament director Matt Savage bet 200 and both the players in seat 8 & 9 made the call. The turn was the J and and once again Savage bet 200. Seat 8 called and seat 9 raised to 400. Savage called the raise as did seat 8. The river was the 4 and everyone checked around. Savage missed a bet on the river looking for a check-raise as he turned over A Q 3 2 for the wheel, scooping the pot with both the high hand and the low hand.

Seat 4 made a set of kings on the turn and a full house on the river for the high hand while seat 5 made the 6-4-3-2-A for the low hand. Seats 4 and 5 split the pot while Mark Gregorich threw his hand into the muck.

Chop-Chop
Those two words can sum up the entire level of Omaha eight-or-better. The two highlights were Dewey Tomko tripling up to survive, and both Mark Gregorich and Noah Jefferson doubling up to accomplish the same survival feat.
Razzed
The game then switched to razz, and the limits were steep at $20,000-$40,000.
Hellmuth Busted in 24th Place
Phil Hellmuth made a strong showing in the HORSE event, but his run came to an end when he ran into Kenny Tran early in the razz level. Tran had 6 3 (3 8 A 5 ) J turned up and Hellmuth peeked at his last hole card before mucking. He then walked away from the table and mused with himself about his demise.
Survival of the Fittest
The rest of razz was an exercise in stubbornness. Gregorich doubled up again. Toto Leonidas doubled up through Thor Hansen with 7 2 (6 4 10 3 ) 10 . The only sure thing during the last part of razz was that the short stacks prevailed. The game was then switched to seven-card stud, with the limits remaining the same.

After Dinner
The final minutes of the Omaha eight-or-better level were contested after the dinner break and not too much transpired.
Razz!
The game was then switched to razz as the threshold into level 53 was crossed.
Mark Gregorich Eliminated in 11th Place ($117,216)
John Hanson held 10-2-8-3 when Mark Gregorich moved all in on fourth street. Hanson called him down and then received 3-4-7 to eliminate Gregorich in 11th place. Gregorich took home $117,216 in prize money.
Dewey Tomko Eliminated in 10th Place ($131,424)
Dewey Tomko bet $100,000 and Amnon Filippi raised to $150,000. Tomko reraised all in for $160,000 and Filippi made the call. The remaining cards were dealt and on sixth street Tomko had 9-7-5-8-4-8 exposed. Filippi had 7-6-A-10-J-3 exposed. The final hole card was dealt to Filippi and he turned over a four to make a 7-6 low. Tomko was drawing dead and he exited the table. Tomko was eliminated in 10th place and he took home $131,424 in prize money.
Seven Card Stud
The game was then switched to seven card stud and the nine players who remained were keeping a close eye on each other. Kenny Tran made a trip to the table to the other table to check on the chip stacks of the other players. All the players at the featured table had more than $1.6 million. The towers of Gabe Kaplan and Bruno Fitoussi were looking a little low at the on-deck circle though. Tran passed the baton to Amnon Filippi and he began to check back and forth between the tables. This was ironic, considering that Filippi had the chip lead.

Blackjack down to a Final Table
The remaining 21 players will do battle until the final eight remain tonight. The action started on the remaining minutes of seven-card stud.
Daniel Negreanu Busted
In the waning minutes of seven-card stud Daniel Negreanu was all in with jacks and sixes against Bruno Fitoussi, who held a pair of aces. That is, until seventh street when he received a second three to make aces up. Negreanu was eliminated in 21st place.
Split-Game Time
After Kid Poker made his exit, the game was switched to seven-card stud eight-or-better and the chopping began. Many pots went to the chopping block, and the dealers were busy keeping up with the action. Players that were low got all in, but they always managed to take either the high or low pot to survive.
Pat Pezzin Eliminated in 20th Place
The chop-o-rama continued until Pat Pezzin got it all in with 7 7 (J 2 3 4 ). He was covered by Mark Gregorich, who held A 3 (3 A K 4 ). Gregorich was dealt one last diamond on the river, the 7 to be exact, and Pezzin made his exit after he mucked his hand. The money bubble now loomed large over the field.

Stud Hour One
Jun 19, '07
Play got underway shortly after 5 p.m. in the $2,000 Seven Card Stud event. 27 tables began the day, meaning around 217 entrants. The field consists mostly of stud specialists like Allen Kessler and Cory Zeidman, but is peppered with fabled mixed-game players such as Chip Reese. Reese is sharing the felt with Thor Hansen and Mark Gregorich, making his table incredibly tough. Jeffrey Lisandro is sat at table 103 with Jim McManus. Cyndy Viollete strolled in slightly late and joined Paul Darden at table 109. A number of other notable players are in the field as well, from Robert Mizrachi to Tom Franklin to Kirill Gerasimov, this field has players of every (legal) age and from various places around the world.
Other Europeans in the field include Marcel Luske, Andreas Fritz, Rolf Slotboom and Michael Keiner.
Action is somewhat slow to start, with $5 chips still in play, but make sure to check back here at Cardplayer.com to catch the action as it heats up.

Day Two - Hour Two
Jun 14, '07
WOW
By the end of hour two, there were only 36 players remaining at four tables. The money bubble burst without much slowdown, and then action shifted into fifth gear. Allen Cunningham, Alex Jacob, David Benyamine, Tony G, and Jennifer Tilly were all victims of this aggressive melee. If this pace continues we could reach a final table in the next hour.
Liebert into the Lead with an Assist from some Fellow Ladies
Kathy Liebert jumped into a slight chip lead when she made quad queens to take down a massive pot. This shot her up to $470,000.
Dirksen Falls, Still Strong Though
Dustin Dirksen fell to $466,000 when his A J was beat by pocket queens on a board of J 4 2 9 9 . Dirksen doubled up his opponent but was still holding strong in second place.
Hot Ticket Item
The payout sheet was the must-have item of the hour, and it was passed from player to player throughout the tournament field. The jumps in prize money did nothing to curb the aggression of the remaining players though.
Gregorich Doubles Up
Mark Gregorich bet $20,000 preflop and seat nine moved all in for $28,000 total. Seat one and Max Pescatori folded before Gregorich made the call. He flipped over A K and his opponent flipped over A Q . The board was dealt A 9 2 2 4 as seat nine yelled out “Jamie Gold…Deuce,” and some other choice words that were laced with an unhealthy dose of surliness when he busted out of the tournament. Gregorich held $120,000 after the hand.
Woodley frustrated again
Englishman Ian Woodley felt very hard done by over his exit.
‘I had 27,000 in chips,’ he didn’t so much as explain as spit out in disgust. ‘Get dealt an ace and as the other card is flying towards me it flips over. It’s an ace. I’m fu*king gutted. I get dealt a deuce. Win nothing. I threw my other ace towards the fuc*king dealer face up.
Then I’m forced into making a play I wouldn’t have done had I won the aces pot with K-J. The antes are 500, the binds 2,000 and 4,000 and I have to make the move. That’s the 5th time this series I’ve gone deep and finished just before the money. I was six from the bubble. Fu*k.’
Euro Interest
Young Scot Rory Mathews went out in 47th for $12,653
Ross Boatman looks comfortable on around $120,000 in chips.
