Austin Buchanan Eliminates Former Champ Harvey Vandeven
May 05, '17
In 2013 Harvey Vandeven won the CPPT main event. He was looking to put together another deep run in this tournament, but hit a huge snag late on day 1A. Vandeven got all-in preflop holding the KK and was well ahead of Austin Buchanan’s 88.
That all changed when the board ran out 63482, giving Buchanan a set on the turn. Vandeven was eliminated while Buchanan became one of the biggest stacks in the room. He scored another knockout shortly after and now sits with over 180,000.

Austin Buchanan Finds A Double Up

Jeffrey Klein opened in the cutoff with J10, and Austin Buchanan moved all in for his short stack with AK. It was folded back around to Klein, and he made the call. The pot stood at about 12,000 (60 big blinds at the time).
The flop fell J83, giving Klein top pair. However, the K on the turn put Buchanan back in front. The A on the river gave Buchanan an unneeded two pair, and he doubled up to about half the starting stack.
