Matthias Auer Eliminates John Phan and Aneese Puri
Nov 13, '21
Aneese Puri was down to his last couple of big blinds and put them in blind from under the gun. Two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner and World Poker Tour champion John Phan moved all in from middle position for about 500,000 and Matthias Auer called out of the big blind, having both players covered.
Puri showed J-7 and was up against Phan’s 9-9 and Auer’s A-10.
The flop brought a king and jack, giving Auer a gutshot straight draw and an overcard against Puri’s second pair. He turned Broadway, which left both Puri and Phan drawing dead to the river.
Since Phan held the slight chip advantage at the start of the hand, he took the slightly better finishing position in 24th, while Puri took 25th. Phan earned a payjump with a $12,200 payday, while Puri left with $10,647.
Matthias Auer – 2,100,000
John Phan – Eliminated
Aneese Puri – Eliminated
