Action got down to ninehanded and each hand was watched by the eyes of ESPN cameras and rail birds closely. In the end Howard Lederer was the television bubble boy when he was busted by the two pair of Jeffrey Lisandro. The players then re-drew for seats at the final table. A decision now had to be made to play through the night, or come back tomorrow. The ESPN producers made their case for the latter, since they intended to film the action. Lisandro was the only player who wanted to continue, but he changed his mind when they told him they would begin the final table at 1 p.m. tomorrow. This would allow him to still participate in the 5 p.m. event tomorrow. The players then bagged up their chips and this is how things will look when they take their seats at 1 p.m. tomorrow:

The Tortoise and the Tortoise
There was a short break shortly into this stretch of play for fifteen minutes. The players returned, 13 of them, and took their seats at the final two tables. Over an hour later 11 of them remained, including, Daniel Negreanu, Howard Lederer, Nick Frangos, Jeffrey Lisandro, Mel Judah, and new chip leader Greg Pappas. David Chiu was not among the names listed because he had busted out of the tournament in 12th place. Lisandro, Judah, and Lederer were all on short stacks at some point during this stretch of play, but the man with the fewest chips was taking down pot after pot. During this stretch of play a short stack was the lucky rabbit’s foot of the moment.
Negreanu’s Rise
Daniel Negreanu had tangled in a large pot with Howard Lederer where he scored over $40,000 then he was moved over to the table that Chiu had vacated. Waiting with open arms was Pappas. He seemed quite eager to play with Kid Poker, as well as chat with him.
Pappas may not have been as happy to have Negreanu at his table after this hand. After a raise and call followed each street, both players checked the final card. Negreanu exposed A

and Pappas turned up Q 10 (Q 3 7 4) 5. “Now you’re the chip leader,” said Pappas to Negreanu as collected the pot. Indeed he was with $160,000.
Late Night with Pappas and Frangos
Many players were showing the lateness of the hour in their expressions, body language, and patterns of speech. Not Pappas and Frangos though, each man was the entertainment front man for his table, and the ESPN camera crews scurried to and fro to capture the action. Here are some nuggets of wisdom they each exposed over the last hour:
“If this was six card stud I’d have been out about 35 hands ago.” – Pappas
“The poker book got thrown out the window 24 minutes ago.” – Frangos
“You can’t play big pots with small stacks.” - Pappas
“Can you bang on the drum…You should be paying me for this…If she breaks something I’ll give her $200.” – Frangos (to massage therapist)
"I caught a straight, just like magic.” – Pappas (after he busted Chiu)
"This should get rid of the riff-raff.” – Frangos (after the blinds increased)
The Wall
Eliminating Chiu in 12th place was hard enough for this tournament field so we will see how long it takes to get down to the final ten players. Pappas had regained the chip lead at his table with Negreanu, while Judah, Lisandro, and Lederer took turns doubling up at the other table. Good grief!

Lull in the Action
Nesbitt Coburn then doubled up through Nick Frangos and Greg Raymer made an appearance to sweat the action. After the after the aforementioned action that took place over the course of back to back hands play slowed down for the next 20 hands. Jeffrey Lisandro was able to double up through Pappas with three fours during this stretch.
Gregory Pappas Eliminated in Sixth Place ($16,282)
Gregory Pappas was the next to hit the rail in sixth place. Pappas had started the day with a healthy amount of chips, but his fall from grace was complete when he was busted by Nesbitt Coburn and his king-high straight. He took home $16,282 in prize money.

Farshad Cohen Eliminated in Eighth Place ($8,916)
The cards got in the air at 1:25 p.m. and Farshad Cohen was the first to make an exit a half hour into play. He was eliminated by the queen-high straight of Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu made the straight on seventh street and Cohen was sent to the rail in eighth place. He took home $8,916 in prize money.
David Brody Eliminated in Seventh Place ($12,405)
David Brody was on an extreme short stack at this point ($6,000) and he was all in against Greg Pappas. Pappas also made a queen-high straight to send his opponent packing. Brody was eliminated in seventh place and he took home $12,405 in prize money.
