Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, Kirk Morrison has endured the ups and downs of poker, but his recent results would indicate that he seems to be coming out on top.
When he was in his early twenties, Morrison was good friends with fellow young guns at the time Daniel Negreanu, John Juanda, and Allen Cunningham. He honed his tournament skills and knowledge of a variety of games. Morrison cashed in several major events and also won a World Series of Poker bracelet in the 1998 $1,500 seven-card stud event. After another year of traveling the tournament circuit, Morrison went to New Zealand to get away from poker for a few months.
Those few months turned into more than seven years before he was convinced by Negreanu to come back to the United States because of the poker boom. It seemed that Morrison did not miss a step. Since returning in 2006, Morrison has already accumulated multiple tournament cashes sine his return, including a WSOP final table and two World Poker Tour final tables, one of which was a second place at the WPT Championship, in which he earned more than $2 million.
