Erik Nelson is the shortest stack among the remaining 16 players. He just shoved all-in preflop for 31,500. It folded to Carlos Loving in the big blind and he made the call with the 86.
Nelson was ahead with the A2, but the table seemed confident that Loving was going to outrun Nelson.
That prediction seemed to be coming true when the 8 showed up in the window. The rest of the flop was the A7, though, giving Nelson top pair. The K turn and Q river secured him the pot and the double up.
We walked up to see Erik Nelson with all his chips in the middle holding the 75 with a board of 864 and two other cards that didn’t matter, because with 86 his opponent was drawing dead after the flop.
Nelson took down the pot, eliminating his opponent and chipping up to 125,000.
