A Battle Of The Short Stacks

Adam Levy was short stacked and made a move with 97, only to run into a real hand from shorter stack Pratyush Buddiga in the form of pocket nines.

The flop came 10-8-6, giving Levy a straight. The turn improved him to a flush and Buddiga quickly gathered his stuff and headed for the door. Despite dragging that pot, Levy is still one of the shorter stacks with 13,500.

Pratyush Buddiga Wins A Small One

Pratyush Buddiga has had a good past few years on the tournament circuit, making the final table of EPT Barcelona in 2013 and then following that up with a 15th in the EPT Grand Final main event. Last summer he finished eighth in a huge super high roller event in Macau for $772,870 and most recently won the $2,500 no-limit event at the Fallswview Poker Classic in Canada for $220k.

He’s eyeing another deep run here at the 2014 Irish Open, and was able to chip up slighlty last time we peeked in on his table.

Buddiga raised to 5,000 from the cutoff and got a call from the big blind. The flop brought the J64. The big blind checked and Buddiga fired 5,200. The big blind called and the turn brought the 7. The big blind again checked and this time Buddiga fired 11,300. That was enough to take it down, and the young American (now living in Canada) raked in the pot.
