Mike Heflin Scores Needed Double Up
May 05, '17
Mike Heflin was looking down at a pair of fives in the big blind as action folded around to a player in the cutoff position. The cutoff bet 2,500, the player on the button called, the small blind folded and Heflin called the additional 1,500.
The flop fell K53, and Heflin checked. The preflop raiser bet 3,000, the button folded, and Heflin slowed played his set by just calling. The turn brought the 6, which completed some straight draws and put a backdoor flush draw on the board.
Heflin checked once again. His opponent fired 7,000, and Heflin contemplated his move briefly before check-raising to 15,000, leaving himself 14,500 behind. His opponent quickly called.
The 3 landed on the river, giving Heflin a full house. He went all in and was quickly called. He showed his full house and his opponent flashed a king for top pair.
Heflin was up to more than 70,000 thanks to the hand.
