Murphy — 37,800 Notable Eliminations: Chau Giang Twitter Accounts: Daniel Negreanu Big Hands: Chau Giang Disappears Courtesy Of The Magician Picking up the action after the turn, the board read KQ93 and Chau Giang bet 7,000. Antonio Esfandiari raised the action to 15,000 and Giang moved all in. Esfandiari made the call and the players turned over their cards: Giang: J10 Giang flopped a straight but his flush draw was dead to Esfandiari’s better draw that went along with his two pair. The river then brought the K, giving Esfandiari a full house and Giang was sent packing. Farha Getting Up There The player on the button raised to 1,625 and Sam Farha made the call from the big blind. The flop came down KJ4 and both players checked. The turn was the 5 and Farha fired 2,000. His opponent made the call and the river was the 4. Farha kept his foot on the gas pedal, firing another 7,000 into the pot. The button mucked and Farha took the pot. He was at 70,000. Yang Gets Hammered Down To Size, Then Eliminated The player in seat 2 and Jerry Yang tangled preflop that resulted in seat 2 moving all in for 27,800. Yang made the call and here were their cards: Yang: KK Yang fell victim to a cold deck and the board offered him no help as it ran out 7547J. Yang took a big hit and was down to 8,000 in chips. Yang was eventually cut down to 3,200 in chips and shipped them all in preflop against the player in seat 9. Yang: Q10 The flop was favorable to Yang as it came Q97, giving him top pair. “It’s not over yet,” Yang said before the turn. If it wasn’t over then, it was sure close to being over when the A fell on the turn. The river then brought the 7 and Yang was eliminated. McEvoy’s Aces Cracked Picking up the action on a flop of 952, Tom McEvoy moved all in against his opponent. The player called and ended up putting himself at risk as McEvoy had him covered. McEvoy held pocket aces but they were officially cracked when his opponent turned 52. The board finished out 10 and 4 and McEvoy dropped to 20,000 in chips. Elezra Gets One A player raised to 850 preflop and another player made the call. Eli Elezra was in the big blind and came along as well to see a flop of K52. Elezra checked and the raiser bet 1,375. Elezra was the only caller and the A came on the turn. Elezra checked and his opponent bet 2,200. Elezra made the call againa and the river was the 8. Elezra decided to take the lead, firing 4,000. His opponent gave it up and Elezra took the pot, improving his stack to 32,000. Gored Picking up the action on a flop of 765, Carlos Mortensen fired 1,400. Dan Smith made the call and the other two players in the hand mucked. The turn was the J and Mortensen bet 3,000. Smith made the call and the 9 came on the river. Both players checked and Mortensen tabled KK and Smith mucked. Mortensen took the pot and he was at 25,000. Don’t Stand On The Tracks When The Orient Express Is Coming Through Picking up the action after the board had run out 732€96, Johnny Chan and his opponent got involved in a betting war. Eventually, the opponent tabled 77 for middle set. Unfortunately for him, Chan tabled K8 for a rivered flush. Chan raked in the pot and was up to 165,000. That was good for the overall chip lead on Day 1C. Outrunning Outhred After the board had run out K72910, there was 27,000 in the pot. A player bet 20,000 and Alex Outhred made the call. Outhred tabled pocket queens but they were no good as his opponent showed 1010 for a set on the river. Outhred threw his queens in the muck and he was down to 53,000. Dwan Tripped Up Picking up the action after the flop came down 10103, Tom Dwan led out for 1,425. Lee Markholt made the call and the turn was the 6. Markholt doubled to 12,000. Left In The Deck: It’s Not Easy Being Phil Midway through the level, the tournament staff announced through the speakers that “1989 World Chammpion Phil Hellmuth has just been eliminated.” The Amazon Room erupted in cheers and applause after hearing the announcement, not quite the reaction anyone would care for. Hellmuth had been playing on the secondary feature table and made his grand entrance with UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva. He was officially TKO’d.
