Brent Baldrey – 150,000 Card Player Family Chip Counts Jeff Shulman — 5,600 Big Hands: Little Chops Up a Big One Jonathan Little push his opponent all in for around 10,000 and was called. Their hands: Little: AK They held the same hand, but when the flop ran 527 Little saw he had a backdoor flush draw. “Freeroll,” he said. But the board finished without two more diamonds and they chopped the pot. Little is still relatively short with just 13,000 in chips. Lee Busts to Aces A short-stacked Doug Lee got all in preflop holding 77, but his opponent held the big bad AA. The board ran 552J4 and Lee was gone. Varkonyi Loses Big One Robert Varkonyi’s opponent was all in, creating a pretty large pot on a board of 2948J. Varkonyi tanked for a while before making the call. Their hands: Varkonyi: J-8 Varkonyi’s two pair could not be his opponent’s nut flush, and the former main event champ dropped to 26,000 in chips. Singer Flexes The player under the gun raised to 1,000 and David Singer made it 3,400 to go. The blinds folded but the under the gun player called. The flop came down 952 and the player bet 4,300. Singer made the call and the 9 fell on the turn. The player checked and Singer pounced, moving all in for 10,625. His opponent mucked and Singer took the pot. He was at 20,000. Freddy Deeb Getting Short Four players, including Freddy Deeb, limped preflop and saw the KJ9 land on the felt. Everyone checked and the turn was the 5. The player in seat 1 bet 700 and everyone folded. Deeb was ailing with just 9,000 after the hand. Harman Gets Pushed Jennifer Harman and her opponent in seat 9 saw a flop of J55. Seat 9 bet 2,600 and Harman raised it up to 6,600. Seat 9 would not be pushed as he reraised to 14,600. Harman then went into the tank for a couple of minutes. The ESPN cameras noticed and surrounded the table. Harman shuffled her chips for what seemed like forever. Finally, she threw away her hand and slipped to 27,000. Rousso Jacks Up Opponent Vanessa Rousso and her opponent saw a flop J98. The action preflop was unclear, but seat 6 eventually ended up all in for 27,250. Rousso made the call. Rousso: JJ Rousso flopped top set but her opponent was drawing to an open-ended straight draw. The turn was the A, giving seat 6 a meaningless pair. The river was the 6 and Rousso dodged the draws to score the knockout. She was at 63,000 after the hand. Pavilion Room Update Johnathan Little Doubles Up Jonathan Little bet 800 from middle position and it was folded around to a player in the small blind. The big blind raised to 1,800 and Little called. The flop came Q99. The big blind bet 2,000 and Little made the quick call. The 5 fell on the turn and the big blind bet 3,600. Little called with only 5,950 behind. An off suit four hit the river and Little’s opponent set him all in. Little made the insta-call for his tournament life. His opponent exposed the KK but was no good against the 98 of Little. Little doubled to over 30,000. Shawn Sheikhan Outplayed It was folded around to the small blind. Shawn Sheikhan was in the big blind and was asking for a walk. However, the small blind completed and Sheikhan checked. The flop came KK10 and it was checked to Sheikhan. He fired out a bet of 800 before being check-raised to 2,000. Sheikhan quickly folded and his opponent showed him the 52 for 5-high. Sheikhan was at around 20,000 after the hand. Thomas Marchese Loses a Pot With about 10,000 in the middle on a board of 1053Q6, Marchese checked and his opponent checked behind. Marchese’s opponent announced pair and tabled A5. Ferguson made the call and found some bad news. Negreanu showed 66, for a set of sixes, and Ferguson held the A8, good for top pair. After the 2 came on the turn, Ferguson was officially drawing dead and Negreanu doubled up to 41,700. Hellmuth Applies Pressure Phil Hellmuth raised to 2,200 and Huck Seed made the call from the button. Both players checked the A72 flop and saw the 9 fall on the turn. The turn was the 3, giving Negreanu some chop outs, but the 10 on the river kept Hachem’s set in the lead and eliminated the one-time chip leader earlier than he would have liked. Barry Hits the River On the last hand before the dinner break, Barry Greenstein raised to 10,000 and Huck Seed called and they saw a flop of J63. Greenstein bet 14,000 and Seed made it 34,000. Greensstein moved in for 77,000 and Seed called instantly. Seed KJ and was way ahead of Greenstein’s Q6. The 4 came on the turn, but the 6 on the river gave Barry the lead with trip sixes and doubled up to 182,500 and Seed dropped to 91,500. The turn was the Q and Ivey bet again and Lunkin put the last of his chips in. Ivey showed A10 and Lunkin showed Q7. Ivey slipped to 27,000 and Lunkin doubled up to 50,000 with the pot. Nick Schulman Eliminated Nick Schulman got his last 10,000 in before the flop with pocket fives and ran into Ugur Marangoz’s pocket sixes. The board ran out KJ37K and Schulman was eliminated shortly after the dinner break. Greenstein Hits a Five to Stay Alive Bill Chen raised and was called by Justin Bonomo in the small blind and Barry Greenstein who was in the big blind. The flop came A2Q and both Bonomo and Greenstein checked to Chen, who made a bet. Chen was met with a check-raise from Bonomo and Greestein committed the last of his chips with a call. Chen got out of the way and Greenstein and Bonomo went to showdown. Bonomo showed the A9 and was way ahead of Greenstein’s A5. The turn was the 8, but the 5 on the river vaulted Greenstein to the lead and gave him the pot. Greenstein doubled up to 48,000 and Bonomo dropped to 32,000. Jennifer Harman Eliminated We got to the action late, but we saw Jennifer Harman’s A8 not able to outdraw the pocket kings of Hoyt Corkins and she was sent to the rail. The flop came A410 and Mosseri and Yeh both checked to Harman who bet. The preflop three-better called and was all-in, and Mosseri and Yeh came along for the bet. The turn was the 5 and Yeh and Mosseri both checked and called a bet from Harman. The 2 was the river and all the players checked. Harman showed AA77, good for a set of aces and a 7-5 low, and somehow that was good for the whole pot. Harman is up to 70,000 after stacking the chips from the pot. Evdakov Drops One to Duke Nikolay Evdakov and Annie Duke got in four bets on a flop of KQ8. The 8 fell on the turn and Evdakov checked and called a bet from Duke. The river was the A and Evdakov led into Duke. Duke checked her cards before raising. Evdakov called and mucked when he was shown the AA74, good for aces full. Duke moved up to 32,000 in chips, while Evdakov fell to 9,400. Gould Takes a Pot Off Galfond Peter Gould checked and called bets from Phil Galfond on every street as the board came A972Q. Juanda then led out on every street, getting called down by both players until sixth street when Harman mucked. Here were their boards: Adams: (742)7332 Adams had two pair but bricked on the river to try and make a low. Juanda’s exposed three aces were good enough for the scoop and he had an 8-6 low to boot. “What are you doing,” Harman exclaimed to herself. “I had a 7-4.” Juanda took down the pot and was closing in on 400,000 while Adams was at 170,000 and Harman was down to just 40,000. Erik Seidel and Toto Leonidas both joined the fun, making the call. When action got back to Adams he re-raised and everyone called, making it a sizable 4-way pot. On 4th street Seidel checked to Leonidas who bet, Adams called and Violette raised the last of her chips in. Leonidas re-raised yet again and Seidel got out of the way but Adams called. Leonidas bet on 5th street, and appeared to be slowing down on 6th street but check-raised Adams’ bet, and once again took over as the first better on the river. Adams made the call and they showed their hands. Adams: (X-X)-271010-(X) Leonidas showed two pair for the high half of the main pot, but Violette’s down cards showed the best low hand, earning her half the pot to stay alive with around 40,000 in chips. Leonidas still had around 155,000 in chips and Adams had 140,000 after the hand. Toto Chops For All His Chips Picking up the action on seventh street, Brandon Adams bet 12,000 and Toto Leonidas made the call, putting himself all in. Adams showed (A66)7772 for a full house. Leonidas tabled (764)10854 for an 8-7 low, as his straight was nullified by Adams’ full house. Both players chopped the pot and Adams was at 185,000 while Leonidas was at 110,000. Seidel Chops With Harman To Stay Alive Jennifer Harman bet 12,000 on fifth street and Erik Seidel made the call. Harman fired another bet of 12,000 on sixth street and Seidel called for the rest of his stack. Harman was showing A853 while Seidel was showing 10532. After the river, Harman’s hole cards were AK7 giving her a pair of aces with an 8-7 low. Seidel countered with 862 for an 8-6 low and half the pot. He was at 54,000 while Harman was just around 70,000. Kassela then checked on fourth street and Juanda bet 80,000. Kassela called again and check-called another bet of 160,000 by Juanda on fifth street. Both players checked on 6th street and Juanda moved all in for 135,000 on seventh street. Kassela made the call and had three of a kind, AAA. It was better than Juanda’s two pair, KK77 and Juanda was gone. Steve Zolotow Eliminated In 4th Place ($125,379) Steve Zolotow completed to 80,000 and Frank Kassela raised it to 160,000. Zolotow put in a third bet for all of his chips. Kassela made the call and here is how there boards ran out: Zolotow: (Q7J)QA610 Zolotow made a pair of queens while Kassela hit three nines and knocked out Zolotow in third place. Kassela expanded his chip lead over the table with that elimination and Zolotow took home $125,379. Jennifer Harman Eliminated In 3rd Place ($173,159) Allen Kessler completed to 80,000 and Jennifer Harman made the call. Both players checked fourth street and Harman check-called a bet of 160,000 by Kessler on fifth street. Kessler then bet another 160,000 on sixth street and Harman made the call, putting herself all in. By the time seventh street was dealt, Harman had absolutely nothing as she missed her 6-low draw and failed to pair up. Kessler caught a pair of fours and it was enough to scoop the pot and knock out Harman in third place. Dario Minieri — $52,366 Big Hands: Dario Minieri Flushed By Schmelev, Then Eliminated In 8th Place ($52,366) Dario Minieri led out betting on every street until sixth and Vladimir Schmelev called him down. On seventh, Schmelev initiated the betting with 60,000 and Minieri made the call. Schmelev turned over (A82)695K for a heart flush and Minieri mucked his hand. Minieri was just over 100,000 after the hand and was eliminated later in the level by Allen Kessler’s two pair. Vladimir Schmelev Eliminated In 7th Place ($63,456) Vladimir Schmelev led out with 30,000 on fourth street and Jennifer Harman made the call, as did Frank Kassela. Schmelev moved all in on fifth street for his last 16,000 and both opponents called. Harman and Kassela both checked the last two streets and Kassela turned over 101010, good for the high.
