Big Hands:
Shawn "sprstoner" Glines Takes Out Mike Glick
Shawn Glines raised and Mike Glick reraised. After surveying the situation and his opponent's stack, Glines put Glick all in. Glick made the call and his A-Q was far behind Glines and his pocket aces. Glines now has 175,000 in chips, a far cry from the 20,000 he had just a few levels ago.
Will Failla Holds On
Nenad Medic raised from under the gun to 7,000 and Will Failla moved all in for 28,400. Medic folded after a bit and Failla let him off the hook by showing pocket aces.
Phil Ivey Eliminated by Imhpounh Bongbone
The defending champion has been eliminated from the tournament. In a battle of the blinds, Imhpounh Bongbone raised to 10,400 and Phil Ivey moved all in for about 50,000. Bongbone snap called with pocket sixes and Ivey showed two overs with A-8.
The board came K-Q-2-K-2 and Ivey was eliminated from the tournament.
Stan Jablonski Eliminated by Mike Sowers
Stan Jablonski and Mike Sowers found themselves all in preflop. Jablonski had A-Q but was dominated by Sowers and his A-K. The board brought an aces but Sowers and his kicker played to send Jablonski from one of the toughest tables in the room. Sowers now has 502,000.
Jeff Garza Puts Maria Ho to the Test
On a board of KJ45 Jeff Garza bets 18,000 from the big blind and Maria Ho made the call from the button after thinking it over. The K fell on the river and Garza bet 25,000. Ho went into the tank again, but this time she mucked after thinking it over for a minute. This was a minor setback for Ho who has pulled off a nice comeback during the last two levels.
Daniel Negreanu Doubles Up
Danie Negreanu moved all in preflop from the cutoff and Blake Cahail made the call from the hi-jack. Their cards:
Negreanu: 99
Cahail: A8
Board: Q9546
Negreanu doubled up on the hand to survive.
Farkye Continues the Aggression
Kofi Farkye raised to 5,500 preflop under the gun and Men Nguyen went into the tank on the button. He mucked and then the small blind called in seat 1. The flop was dealt AJ10 and both players checked. The 9 fell on the turn and Farkye bet 6,500. Seat 1 called and the river fell Q. Farkye checked and flipped up J9. Seat 1 did not bet, but mucked his hand and gave Farkye the pot.
Daniel Negreanu Eliminated by Blake Cahail
We caught up with the action on the river, with the board reading J1098K. The pot has about 50,000 in the middle and Blake Cahail has put Daniel Negreanu to the test for his last 30,000 or so.
Negreanu states that he is only beat by one hand and Cahail immediately shoots back with, "So you're saying you have a king-high flush?" Negreanu laughs and says, "You don't have a flush."
After about five minutes in the tank, Negreanu decides to call and Cahail immediately turns over AQ for the Broadway straight. Negreanu shows KK for a rivered set and gets up from the table as the level clock counts down to zero. Cahail now has 190,000 in chips.
