Level 21 Update: Eric Mizrachi Eliminated and Lee Watkinson EliminatedJun 02, '09 Blinds: 8,000-16,000 with a 2,000 ante Players Remaining: 40 out of 6,021 Chip Counts: 1. Robert Comegys – 1,200,000 Average Chip Count: 454,575 Notable Eliminations: Eric Mizrachi Big Hands: Eric Mizrachi Eliminated After raising on the button with the A10, Eric Mizrachi was re-raised all-in from Brent Roberts in the small blind. Roberts shoved 145,000 into the middle, which was just enough to cover the short stack of Mizrachi. Mizrachi went into the tank saying, “I really hope it’s a coin flip.” He eventually made the call and Roberts announced that it was a coin flip and exposed the KQ. Mizrachi flipped his cards over for the slight lead in the hand. The flop was a disaster for Mizrachi as it came 2K4, giving Roberts top pair. The board bricked out for the Mizrachi brother with the 7 and 2 to send him to the rail. Steve Sung Wins Big Pot With Ace-High On a flop of 939, Steve Sung checked to his opponent in the cut off. Sung’s opponent fired out 75,000 and Sung contemplated briefly before making the call. The 10 hit the turn and Sung checked. His opponent elected not to double barrel bluff the turn and checked behind. The 3 on the river paired the board and Sung quickly bet just 16,000 into the pot of 200,000. His opponent looked confused and smiled at the very tiny bet from Sung, eventually making the call. Sung tabled the AK for ace-high and his opponent quickly mucked. Sung is now up to 500,000. Lee Watkinson Doubles Up Severely short stacked, Lee Watkinson called the all-in re-raise by an opponent who had him well covered. Watkinson turned over the A10 and was ahead of the 35 of his opponent. The flop came J62, putting the Full Tilt Pro well ahead of the suited connectors of his opponent. The K hit the river, giving Watkinson a flush and having his opponent drawing dead for the river. Just after moving tables, Watkinson doubled up to 210,000, still about half the chip average. Dan Heilmiller Takes Down A Pot A player in middle position bet 52,000 pre-flop. Action was folded to Dan Heilmiller on the button, who re-raised 75,000 on top. Amanda Baker in the small blind went into the tank before finally folding. Action was then quickly folded to the initial raiser, who asked Heilmiller for a count on his chips. Heilmiller counted out 305,000 more and his opponent eventually folded. Heilillmer is now up to 474,000. Steve Sung Wins Another Pot On a board of K83, Steve Sung bet out 65,000 from the big blind. His bet was called by an opponent in middle position. The K hit the river and Sung fired out a large pot sized bet of 200,000 into his caller, leaving only 85,000 behind. His opponent went into the tank before finally folding. Sung said afterward that he wanted a call and that he bet too much on the end. Sung is now up to 570,000. Lee Watkinson Eliminated As the short stack of the tournament with just 16,000 in chips, Lee Watkinson moved all-in under the gun. Jonathan Aguilar in the cut-off shoved in over the top of Watkinson’s tiny all-in bet and was called by Amanda Baker. Watkinson held the J10 and wasn’t in too bad of shape against the pocket nines of Aguilar and the pocket eights of Amanda Baker. Aguilar flopped a full house and doubled through Baker to 500,000, eliminating Watkinson. Player Tags: Lee Watkinson, Eric Mizrachi |

Clock on E-WeeOct 22, '08 With a flop of 993 sitting on the table seat 8 checked in middle position and Eric Mizrachi bet 4,000 right behind him, leaving his stack with 12,100 remaining. Seat 8 raised to 15,000 and Mizrachi went into the tank for quite some time. He eventually mucked his hand, but not before the clock was called on him and the time had almost expired. Level One RecapJul 09, '07 Great Dane? Two hours have passed and the first level of play is now over. Players are beginning to get shuffled around the Amazon room as tables break and notable players not previously noticed are beginning to emerge. David Benyamine, Eric Mizrachi and Carlos Mortensen are all now present and accounted for. Missing from today's field, and the Main Event for that matter, is Gus Hansen. Hansen has not shown up to take a seat on any of the day ones and may not even be registered at all. Hansen has emerged in the last few years as a formidable and capable player, his presence will be missed. No Rush Phil Every day there are two ESPN featured tables with at least one notable name. Today's featured tables are starring 2006 Main Event Champion Jamie Gold and on the other table ESPN cameras are busy filming an empty chair. Nine amatuer players are waiting patiently for their tenth seat to be filled and there is no mystery or doubt of who will be arriving soon. In his usual fashion, Phil Hellmuth has yet to show up and take his seat. Getting blinded off through the first two hours, we should expect to see Phil rolling in fashionably late sometime during the second level. Champions Galore Each day so far in this year's Main Event there have been previous Main Event champions in attendance. Today is no different with Jim Becthel ('93), Juan Carlos Mortensen ('01) and hopefully in a few minutes, Phil Hellmuth Jr. ('89). Each started day has also had it's share of celebrities in the field as well. Hank Azaria, actor and voice of numerous Simpsons characters is playing today. The lead singer of the band Godsmack, Sully Erna is in the field and so is A.J. McLean of Backstreet Boys fame. Stacked Table Table 151 is shaping up nicely as the day rolls on. Cyndy Violette started the day at the table and now she is forced to share it with David Benyamine and Isaac Haxton, 2nd place finisher of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. (www.pokerstars.com) Benyamine is playing on one side of the room while his fiancée, Erica Schoenberg, is playing on the ohter. Early Chip Leader Layne "Back to Back" Flack has emerged as the early chip leader in today's field. Flack has managed to build his stack to a little more than double what he started with and now has $42,000 in the early hours of day 1D. Michael Craig is also climbing the leaderboard and has over $35,000 himself. With the board showing A-3-2-A-A and only $1,500 in the pot, Craig bet out $2,000. Craigs opponent called and Craig showed an ace for quad aces. His opponent laughed and mucked his hand. Brad "Yukon" Booth had a swift exit from this year's World Series of Poker Main Event. On a board that was queen high, Booth made consecutive bets of $3,000 and $8,000 on the turn and the river. His opponent check-called the whole way and called the $8,000 bet on the river. Booth's opponent showed Q-J for top pair and Booth mucked his hand, having presumably bluffed away a large portion of his chips. Booth was eliminated shortly thereafter when his opponent turned a full house against what he said was pocket aces. Sorel "Imperium" Mizzi has had the slight misfortune of being seated across from a very dangerous player in Erick Lindgren. Mizzi wasted no time in the first level, settling in to his aggressive playing style. Mizzi popped it to $450 from the button and got two callers, the player in the small blind and the player in seat nine who had previously limped. The flop came 7 6 2. The small blind bet out $500 and the player in seat nine smooth called. Mizzie raised to $2,475 and the player in the small blind immediately called. The player in seat nine called as well and the turn was the 9. All three players checked and the river brought the A. The player in the small blind bet out $5,000 and the player in seat nine called. Mizzi got out of the way and the player in the small blind turned up A A. Mizzi had folded pocket eights. Hour Two UpdateJun 23, '07 The official numbers have been released for this event. There were a total of 2,778 entrants creating a prize pool of $3,791,970. The top 270 players will finish in the money. 270th place will receive $3,223. 1st place will receive $673,628. The alternates were funneled into the tournament very efficiently today. Many of the alternate tables are filled with pros who registered late, and they are having a ball today. Michael Mizrachi had a slight hitch at this initial table. When he arrived at table 321, his brother Eric had already sat down. As he went to get this sorted “ Humberto Brenes’s shark got his meal taken away early on at his table. Brenes raised $400 from early position, and C.T. Law re-raised from the cutoff all in for $1,575. Brenes made the call and showed A K, while Law showed A 10. The flop was a bad one for Brenes as it came 10 6 2. The turn 2 and the river 7 failed to improve either player and Law doubled up. Another player made a quite a ruckus as he solidified the reason that so many people enter these tournaments: anybody can win. A thunderous yell accompanied this particular player’s draw-out on his two opponent’s (you would have thought he had secured the bracelet already, despite it only being in the second level). As it turned out he had found himself all in with 8 6 against both pocket Aces and pocket Kings, and the third club on the river had secured him the pot.
