Mike Caro, who is down just about 2,500 in chips, appears to be sleeping at the table--with a smile on his face.
Hands:
Sharks Attack
After one player limped, seat 3 raised to 1,100 and Humberto Brenes wasted little time before coming over the top to 5,500. The limper got out of the way, and the original raiser had to decide whether he wanted to play for his tournament life. "I really think you have a hand like ace eight," said the kid. Ultimately, he elected to fold K
Q
face up. Brenes, in a moment of charity, flashed A
K
. He's up to about 10,000 after that hand.
Lindgren Chipping Up Again After Tough Couple of Levels
Erick Lindgren checked from the big blind after a flop of Q
J
2
, then led out when the 7
hit on fourth street to the tune of 600. His sole opponent called. The river was the J
and Lindgren bet 1,300 this time. His opponent looked like he was going to fold, but then decided to call. Lindgren showed J
6
for the rivered trips. His opponent mucked. Lindgren, who earlier in the day owned the tournament chip lead, is climbing once again, up to about 8,500.
Button-Big Blind Battle
After two players limped, the button raised Adam "Roothlus" Levy's big blind to 1,075, and Levy came over the top to 3,100. Both limpers folded, but the button player almost beat him into the pot all in. Levy had about 10,000 behind, and would have had to call about 8,000 more. Levy thought for long enough that another player eventually called time, which he waited for to tick down to about five seconds before he ultimately mucked his hand. You had to feel for Levy: he looked as though he suspected he had the best hand, but also knew if he was wrong--or if he was outdrawn--his tournament would be effectively over. He still has more than 10 grand to work with heading into level 6.
Beat Bad
Hollis Bernhardt got his money in good with two kings against Eloy Salazar's pocket sevens for a pot worth about 10,000 in chips. The flop came 6
3
2
, the turn was the 8
, and the river the 7
. "Man, that's bad," lamented Bernhardt, who was eliminated. Salazar's up to more than 15,000.
