Debbie Hinton's Middle Pair Holds
Apr 20, '18
We caught up with the action on a board reading 7439, and a player in the big blind fired 1,300. A player in middle position called, and Debbie Hinton called from the cutoff position. The river brought the 9, and it was checked to Minton. She announced that she had a pair of sevens, and each player began the process of mucking their cards. She tabled Q7, and it was good to scoop the pot.
On a different table, Simon Webster added to his stack in a hand against two other players. An under-the-gun player min-raised, and Webster tripled the min-raise. A player on the button looked over at Webster, perhaps confused by the re-raise, and made the call. The UTG player quickly called, and three players were off to see a flop. The flop fell KJ9, and it was checked to Webster. He fired 600 chips into the middle of the table, and the button player contemplated his options briefly before pitching in his cards. The UTG opponent mucked quickly as well, and Webster tabled the KQ, which was top pair and a gut-shot straight draw. However, his hand was pretty vulnerable given the potential draws his opponents could have had.
