Level Five Recap
Jun 16, '07
Level five of play has been completed and level six has begun. The blinds have risen to $200-$400 with a $50 ante. Approximately 1,000 players are remaining and there are one and a half levels until the dinner break.
Early in level five David Williams was able to build his stack to over $15,000. Williams has been having fun with this table all day and he has clearly established himself as the most vocal. In one hand, the player in seat ten pushed all in preflop for $2,350. Williams reraised and the only player to act behind him started countin out his chips as if to call. "Ooh! This might be a dream come true!" said Williams as he sat up in his chair. "Yeah buddy, stick it all in there." The player folded and Williams was heads up with the player in seat ten. Williams turned up A
K
and his opponent in the ten seat showed A

. The board came Q

With all the money in on the turn with a board of 7

Scott Huff was eliminated in this level when he got tangled up in a hand with
Mandalay Bay Poker Championship winner Shawn Buchanan. Huff rasied to $725 preflop and Buchanan called. The flop 7

on the flush draw. The turn was the K
and the river was no help for Huff either when it fell the Q
.
On what would be the last hand of the level, Barry Greenstein was eliminated. Greenstein pushed all in from the small blind and the player in seat one called from the big blind. Greenstein had A

and his opponent had 5

and Greenstein started to sign his book,
Ace on the River, to give to the player that knocked him out. The turn was the 7
and the river was the 4
. In perfect tradtion, Greenstein gave the signed copy of his book to the player in seat one and exited the tournament area.
European interest remains high. William Thorson has around $25,000 in chips, Pascal Perrault has about $8,000 in chips, Neil Channing has $18,000, down from $25,000 in the previous level and Chris Bjorn has $3,200.
Carlo Citrone has $6,800 and Ben Roberts has around $10,000.
Padraig Parkinson was virtually felted with blinds of 150/300 and only $1,500 in chips. He has doubled up twice in the last fifteen minutes.
The last time, he pushed all-in from the big blind with three limpers on a flop of 1045. One opponent in early position went all-in and the other two limpers exited the action.
Padraig flipped over Q4 for a pair of fours and his opponent flipped over K10 for top pair. But a lucky four on the river gave the Irishman a winning hand and he’s now sitting on $7,500. 'It's great,' he beamed.'I knew the other two guys (limpers) had nothing cos they were looking around the room.' He looked very pleased with his play.
