Big Hands:
Sean Picquelle Makes a Value Bet?
Matt Molinari raised from early position, and Sean Picquelle called from the small blind. The two players took the 852 flop heads up. Picquelle checked, and Molinari fiddled with some chips before checking as well. The turn brought the 7 and another round of checking from both opponents. On the 8 river, Picquelle led out with a bet of 9,000 and Molinari released his hand. “That would be a value bet, sir,” Molinari added as he folded. As Picquelle dragged the pot, he made an observation. “Woo! Now I’ve got an orange,” Picquelle said, referring to the recently introduced orange 5,000 chips, of which Picquelle collected one from Molinari. Picquelle’s stack sat around 145,000 after the hand, or approximately 29 orange chips.
Eric Froehlich Busts Another
Eric Froehlich put his opponent, William Haughey, all in on a flop of 852. Haughey turned over A8 for top pair, top kicker and Froehlich revealed 76 for an open ended straight draw. The arrival of the 4 on the turn completed Froehlich’s straight and had Haughey drawing dead.
Tran Takes a Huge Hit Courtesy of Phung Ngo
On a flop of 763, J.C. Tran checked to Phung Ngo who made a bet of 20,000 into a pot that already contained more than 50,000 in chips. Tran check-raised Ngo to a total of 50,000, and Ngo went into the tank. After a few moments of deliberation, Ngo reraised an additional 80,000 and risking more than half of his entire stack. Tran pondered for only a short while before releasing his hand into the muck.
