Jon Van Fleet Goes Ape
Jul 12, '08
In a battle of the Van's, Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet reported that he got all of his chips by rivering a straight against James Van Alstyne.
Van Fleet was obviously in a good mood with his nearly 75,000 in chips.

Event 21 - $5000 NLHE
Jun 11, '08
Blinds: 500-1000 (100 Ante), moving up to 600-1,200 (100 Ante)
Players Remaining: 150
Eliminations: Thomas Wahlroos
Notable Hands:
Gobbo's Aces No Good
Jimmy Fricke held A A against two all-in opponents, who held A 4 and Q Q . Gobboboy was poised to eliminate both players at one fell swoop, but the fates reared their ugly heads. The flop brought a nasty looking 6 5 3 , followed immediately by the 7 , completing a straight for the player in seat 2. The river added insult to injury with the 8 , and Fricke was forced to settle for a measley side pot and the elimination of the player in seat 3 with the unlucky ladies.
Nobles' Four Noblemen
Dimitri Nobles was all in before the flop with J J against his opponent's A K . Dimitri stood from his seat and started yelling "Hold one time!" The dealer obliged, laying out J 10 5 on the flop, and then downright indulged by peeling off the J on the turn. Nobles exploded into celebration while the meaningless A fell on the river, then loaded his doubled up stack into a chip rack as his table was broken down.
Sick Call Kenny Lays It Down
Kenny Tran three bet an opening raise by the player in first position. The player made the call and checked in the dark. The dealer laid out 9 7 6 , and Kenny fired out a bet of 5,000. His opponent immediately moved all in, and Kenny went into the tank for a few moments before folding his hand. The under the gun player showed 7 7 for a flopped set, and Kenny fished his cards out of the muck to show J J .

Apestyles Monkeys Around
Jon Van Fleet opened a pot from the hijack to 2,500 and was called by the button. The small blind then moved all in for a total of 16,200, folding the big blind. Apestyles moved all in behind him, muscling out the player on the button. The small blind showed A K while Van Fleet tabled a meager looking 6 3 . As the board ran out A 8 7 2 5 , Van Fleet realized that his opponent had moved in for about 10,000 more chips than he had initially assumed. The mistake cost him dearly, and he was left with just over 10,000 after the encounter.
You Are So Sick
Eli Elezra limped under the gun and was raised by the player in seat 3 to a total of 2,300. The remaining players folded, and Elezra reraised to 6,000. Seat 3 folded, and Elezra looked at him in disgust. "You are so sick," said the one time chip leader, flipping over A A . Elezra promised that this was the first time he had seen aces all day, but seemed to think they would be coming in ready supply from now on.

Event 21 - $5000 NLHE - End of Day 2
Jun 12, '08
Blinds: 8,000-16,000 (2,000 Blinds)
Players Remaining: 9
Eliminations: Jon Van Fleet, Michael Mizrachi, Jorge Arias
Notable Hands:
Apestyles Eliminated
Scott Freeman opened the pot for a raise only to have Jon Van Fleet reraise all in for just over 160,000. Freeman made the call, showing A 6 to Van Fleet's 4 4 . But Van Fleet's pair was counterfeited when the board ran out K J 3 K J , and he was sent home in 12th place, earning $42,946, paid entirely in bananas.
Grinder Gone
Mizrachi shipped his stack over to chip leader Scott Seiver in a massive pot. Mizrachi opened with a raise from under the gun to 50,000, but was then reraised by Seiver to a total of 125,000 from the small blind. Mizrachi made the call, only to have Seiver lead out for another 175,000 following the flop of 7 4 2 . Mizrachi then moved all in, and was instantly called by Seiver, who tabled pocket twos (2 2 ) for a flopped set. Mizrachi failed to redraw with his 10 10 as the turn and river brought 6 9 , and left in 11th place with $42,946.
Final Table Bubble Bursts
Only a few hands after redrawing to a single ten handed table, Jorge Arias was eliminated holding Q Q . He opened for a raise, was reraised all in by David Seidman, and made the call. He was in a classic clash against Seidman's A K , but was unable to stay ahead when the board came 10 4 4 K 8 . Arias went out in 10th place, and play ended for the evening. The final table will begin at 2pm tomorrow, and will play until a winner has been decided.

Event 21 - $5000 NLHE - Boeken Busted
Jun 12, '08
Blinds: 4,000-8,000 (1,000 Ante), moving up to 5,000-10,000 (1,000 Ante)
Players Remaining: 23
Eliminations: Noah Boeken, Kathy Liebert, John Murphy
Notable Hands:
Hildebranski Hits Hard, Then Heads Home
After an opening raise from the player in seat 2 to 20,000, Patryk Hildebranski shoved all in, only to have Thanhdat Tran move all in behind him, who then had Ben Sprengers move all in behind him. The player in seat 2 quickly folded his hand, and the other three players flipped up their cards:
Hildebranski: 7 5![](/images/common/suits/spade.gif)
Tran: Q Q![](/images/common/suits/diamond.gif)
Sprengers: J J![](/images/common/suits/diamond.gif)
The board brought a miracle for the underdog Hildebranski, running out 7 4 2 7 8 and feeding his chip stack nicely. Tran, the preflop favorite, was eliminated, while Sprengers, who had both players covered going into the hand, sustained a sizable dent to his chip count.
The triple up was not enough to keep Hildebranski in the tournament for long, however, as he was eliminated before the end of the round. All of his chips went into the middle preflop with A 3 , running into the A K of Jorryt Van Hoof. The board came Q 10 7 9 9 , and Hildebranski was sent home.
Boeken Goes Busto
Jacobo Fernandez opened with a raise, and Noah Boeken responded by shoving all in. Fernandez quickly called, tabling K K . Boeken trailed, showing J J . The flop brought sets for both players, K J 10 , leaving Boeken with the case jack for quads or running straight cards for a chop. The 10 on the turn put any runner-runner pipe dreams to bed, while the river brought the K , needlessly giving Fernandez his case paint card for quads.
Only a few hands after Boeken had taken his leave, Fernandez found himself making set over set again. This time he opened with a raise to 22,000, prompting a shove from Eric Yiu for an additional 90,000. Fernandez made the call.
Fernandez: 8 8![](/images/common/suits/diamond.gif)
Yiu: 5 5![](/images/common/suits/club.gif)
Flop: J 8 6 5 2![](/images/common/suits/club.gif)
Yiu made his way to the cashier's cage, and Fernandez raked in another big pot.
Liebert Eliminated
Kathy Liebert raised to 25,000 before the flop, only to have Joe Monro reraise all in. Liebert thought for some time before making the call, showing A 10 against Monro's 6 6 . Liebert failed to improve when the board ran out Q 5 4 2 2 , and she made her way out of the tournament area.
Apestyles Cripples Elezra
On the river of a board reading J 6 5 7 10 , Eli Elezra checked to Jon Van Fleet, who moved in for a little over 100,000, covering Elezra, who sat with around 80,000 chips remaining by this point in the hand. Elezra went into the tank for some time before calling the clock on himself. With four seconds of his minute remaining and the floorman counting down the time, Elezra folded the hand. Van Fleet mucked his cards and raked in the swollen pot.
John Murphy Misses
John Murphy was all in preflop against Jorge Arias, showing J J against Arias's A Q . The board ran out K Q 2 5 10 , and Murphy was left crippled with under 40,000. He bowed out a few hands later, just before players redrew for the final three tables.
