Known as "AMAK316" online, Amit Makhija honed his poker skill on the digital felt before successfully transitioning to live poker. Once he did, he found immediate success. Makhija cashed at the 2008 European Poker Tour Grand Final in 20th place for more than $73,000.
At the 2008 World Series of Poker, he cashed three times and made one final table in the $10,000 world championship pot-limit hold'em event. For fifth he snagged almost $200,000. At the 2008 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker, Makhija finished second, winning him more than $563,000.
