Big Hands and Storylines:
Bruno to the Forefront
"You have a pair?" Bruno Fitoussi asked Alex Michaels who moved all in for around 75,000. Fitoussi joked, "You have trip bananas?" pointing to the bananna Michaels had sitting in front of him. After a minute of talking it over with himself, he asked Michaels if he wanted a call or a fold. Michaels answered that he just wanted him to decide because he was having a heart attack waiting.
Fitoussi eventually called and showed JJ. Michaels flipped over AK. The flop came 442 and Michaels said, "I lose." But the turn made it interesting, bringing the 8 and creating more outs. "Spade," Michaels demanded while pointing his banana at the board. But the river instead brought the 5 and Fitoussi took a huge pot, eliminated Michaels, and took over the chip lead with 270,000.
"You Know I Don't Play Bad"
Scotty Nguyen has been raising and chipping up at his table. After one raise, Nguyen said, "You know I don't play bad." The big blind mucked showing K-5 and Ngyuen told him, "I can beat that," then flashed A-5. Nguyen is just shy of 200,000 in chips.
Pescatori Takes a Hit
Max Pescatori bet 10,000 on a 1063J board and was called by the player in seat 2. The river was the 2 and Pescatori checked. Seat 2 bet 15,000 and Pescatori thought for a while before making the call. Seat 2 showed QJ and Pescatori tossed his cards into the muck.
Minieri and Shorr Collide
On a board of K-Q-7, Shannon Shorr bet and was raised by Dario Minieri. Shorr mucked and Minieri showed 5-5, saying, "I actually thought I had the best hand." While talking, Minieri learned that he and Shorr are the same age and began to joke about how age has changed his play. They were moved to separate tables soon after.
"Make it 30"
Bill Chen raised to 6,000 and was called by Alon Shahar. The flop came 964 and Shahar led out 10,000. After a moment, Chen's response was, "Make it 30." Shahar mucked his hand and Chen took the pot.
