Robert Howard Doubles Up Against Aces
Dec 13, '13
Robert Howard opened the action to 225 and got a couple of callers. Another player shoved, and action was back on Howard. He decided to call all-in for his remaining 11,000. Everyone else folded.
Howard’s opponent exposed pocket aces, while Howard tabled the K Q and was in horrible shape. However, the flop of J 10 5 gave Howard some light. The turn was the 6 and obviously wasn’t what Howard needed.
The 9 on the river completed his straight draw, giving him a double up to more than the starting stack of 20,000.
Howard won event no. 6 at the CPPT stop at Palm Beach Kennel Club.

We caught up with the action on a board reading 9 5 6 6, and Chino Rheem check-called a 5,000 bet from Robert “Rock” Howard.
The river was the 2, and the action went check-check.
Howard tabled the A 9, deciding not to value-bet his hand on the river. Rheem mucked and was down to around 14,000. Players started with 20,000.
