Pros Just Miss the Cash Flow
A number of professionals busted just before the money bubble, including Huck Seed, Almira Scripchenko, Quinn Do, and Markus Golser. They had played well to make it to this point, but the wrong cards, in the wrong place, at the wrong time put an end to their tournament. The former world champion Seed was attempting to become the first player to win both the WSOP and WSOP Europe main event titles.

Storylines/Big Hands:
Rousso Raises, Reconsiders, Releases
The player under-the-gun limped and so did the player to his left. Action folded around to Vanessa Rousso in the small blind who completed. The big blind checked and they saw a 4-way flop. The flop rolled out 863 and the first three players checked. The player in seat 8 bet 1,600 and was quickly raised by Rousso to 4,100 total. Action folded back around to the player in seat 9, who, after some deliberation, made the call. Rousso checked the 10 on the turn and her opponent bet 4,000. Rousso went into the tank. Shuffling, spinning and stacking her chips, “Lady Maverick” considered making a move. She thought better of it however, and laid the hand down. Despite losing the hand she still sits behind a stack of 41,000.
Bjorin Bouncing Back
Chris Bjorin has made a nice comeback in the latter stages of level four. Once down below 10,000 in chips, Bjorin now sits at just over 40,000, thanks in part to one recent hand. A player from early position raised to 900 and Bjorin called. The flop came A65, and after a check, Bjorin bet 1500. His opponent called. The turn was the 2 and both players checked. The board paired with the 6 on the river, and Bjorin led out for 2500. His opponent made the call and Bjorin showed AK. His opponent mucked.
Main Event a Loss for Hendon’s Ross
Noted Hendon Mob player Ross Boatman took his stand by getting all his chips into the pot pre-flop with A3.To Boatman’s disappointment, his opponent had him dominated with AQ.“Any three will do,” Boatman requested of the dealer as the flop was dealt.Boatman’s disappointment intensified as he gazed at a flop of K72.The J on the turn offered no help, and Boatman headed for the rail at the sight of the 10 on the river giving his opponent a needless straight.
Golser Getting it Done
Few players want to mess with Marcus Golser at his table, but at least one player survived an all-in battle with the pro from Austria. Golser has about 90,000 to dominate his table, and he’s been putting on a clinic. In one series of hands, he limped from under the gun for 300, and was then the lone caller after a raise to 1100 from middle position. The flop came 932, and after Golser checked, his opponent bet 1100 and Golser called. That brought checks from both players when the 4 came on the turn. When the 6 came on the river, Golser led out for 3000 and his shortstacked opponent folded.
The next hand as the big blind, play was folded to the small blind who limped to see the flop come J108. After the small blind checked, Golser bet 400 and won the pot.
Then as the small blind, Golser saw one limper call for 300. He raised to 1700 and took it down uncontested.
It was only as the button that Golser hit a minor speed bump. A player from middle position raised to 900, and Golser went to 1700. His opponent reraised all-in for 9,925 and Golser called. The other player held JJ, while Golser showed AK. The board finished 109873 and Golser’s big stack took a minor hit.
Check and Raise Doesn’t Faze Kathy Liebert
While the Independence Day fireworks could be heard booming outside the Rio, Kathy Liebert saw fireworks of her own at table No. 17 in the orange section of the Amazon Room.Liebert raised to a total of 900 from under-the-gun and the action folded to the blinds. Both the small blind and the big blind called, and the dealer put down a flop of 643.The action checked to Liebert, who continued her aggression by making a bet of 2,000.The small blind check-raised to a total of 5,000 and the big blind folded. After contemplating for a moment, Liebert reraised an additional 5,000.The small blind quickly mucked his cards with a highly frustrated sigh.Liebert’s stack stood at over 40,000 after the hand.
Kravchenko Flops a Five, Stays Alive
Alex Kravchenko flopped a set of fives and collected bets from his opponent on every street. The pot put Kravchenko’s stack above 25,000 for the first time this level.
Note:Players are on their first twenty-minute break of the day and will return at approx. 2:30 pm to begin Level 2 with increased blinds of 100-200.

Set Over set, Negreanu Leaves Early
Daniel Negreanu drew a seat at the ESPN secondary feature table today, but his stay would not even last one round after Negreanu made an early exit when his set of sixes walked into a better set of nines. There was a lot of dissapointment on the rail as many spectators had lined up to watch Negreanu play...there is always next year.
Mrs. Varkonyi Catches a Bluff
Olaf Thorson raised to 250 before the flop and next to act, Olga Varkonyi reraised to 750. Thorson made the call and said, "I don't know why you have to be so aggressive," giving the whole table a good laugh. The flop came 1097, and Varkonyi bet 1,500 after it was checked to her. Thorson made the call both players checked the turn (10). The river was the 9 and Thorson took a stab at the pot, firing 1,800 into the middle. Varkonyi called and Thorson said, "I play the board," showing 76. Varkonyi turned over AA and raked the pot. She started the hand with 21,000, chipping up to 28,000 by the end of the hand.
Kravchenko Chipping Up
On a flop of AA10, the player in seat 7 bet 300 and Alex Kravchenko made the call, as did seat 1. The turn was the 6, and both seats 1 and 7 checked to Kravchenko who bet 775. Seat 1 called and seat 7 folded. The river was the 9 and Kravchenko bet 1,100. Seat 1 tanked for a moment before mucking his cards. Kravcheno raked the pot, bringing his chip count 34,000 after the hand.
Don't Mess With A Mizrachi
The player on the button raised to 300 before the flop, and was called by both the blinds, including Robert Mizrachi in the big blind. Mizrachi led out on the flop of J74, betting 850 after the small blind checked. The button raised for an additional 1,500. Mizrachi thought only briefly before making the wager a total of 4,200. The button squirmed uncomfortably in his seat, rechecking his cards for some time before folding reluctantly. After the hand, Mizrachi is back up to 19,000 in chips.
Fischman Folds To Check Raise
Scott Fischman popped it up 300 before the flop from middle position, and was called only by the big blind, and they went heads up to the flop, which came out 742. The player in the blind checked over to Fischman, who made a continuation bet of 525, only to have his opponent raise to a total of 1,300. Fischman considered the situation only briefly before getting away from his hand, standing from the table to leave for the break a few minutes early.
European Action
On a board of K654 Swede William Thorsson called a bet of 1,200. The turn fell the 5 and Thorsson slowly shook his head as his opponent bet 2,000. “Aces” he said to his opponent – less a question and more a statement of fact.
“How did you know?,” was the reply. Thorsson counted his chips out twice and finally made the call but as he threw his chips in the middle he held his cards over the muck with his other hand. His opponent flashed the aces. “How did you know,” he asked again while raking in the chips.
Elsewhere Englishman Mickey Wernick snatched a nice pot from Greg Raymer and has around 25,000 in chips.
Hendon Mobster Ram Vaswani is the button to recent Irish Open winner Neil Channing’s big blind and both have just over their starting stacks.
EPT boss John Duthie has 22,900 in chips and relaxing with a massage, Barny Boatman was pushed off two pots in a row just before the end of level one but still has around his starting stack while former Swedish international soccer star Tomas Brolin is on a comfortable 37,000.
Patrik Antonius limped into the pot from under the gun. One player in middle position, the button, and both blinds also went to the flop. On the flop of J98, the blinds checked to Antonius, who fired a bet of 375. The middle position player folded action to the button, who then raised to a total of 1,000, pushing out the blinds. Antonius made the call, and fired out for another 1,600 on the turn, which brought the 10. The button called, and then called his bet of 3,200 on the river after the dealer put down the 3. Antonius showed down QQ for a turned straight, but had to chop the pot with his opponent, who held QJ. After the hand, Antonius had only a whisker more than his starting stack, sitting behind around 20,500.

Big Hands:
Shkolnik Sets the Pace
Steve Shkolnik has enjoyed a comfortable cushion atop the chip count for the last couple of levels and continues to add to his total. Playing from the small blind, Shkolnik and Arash Beral in the big blind both called a raise from Erick Lindgren on the button. The flop came down K94, and both blinds checked to Lindgren who bet 3000. Both blinds called to see the 8 hit the turn. This time all three players checked. When the J hit the river, Shkolnik used his position to bet out. Beral quickly folded while Lindgren was reluctant, but eventually released his hand.
Fellows Takes on Early Leaders
Zac Fellows raised from the cut-off and was called by both Nadim Shabou in the small blind and Terrence Chan in the big blind. Both players had been among the leaders in Day 1, though Shabou has fallen on hard times. The flop came 852, both blinds checked, and then called Fellows' 3000 bet. The 6 on the turn brought the same action, this time for 6000. The board paired with the 6 on the river, both blinds checked, and Fellows bet out. Shabou folded while Chan called, but mucked after Fellows showed 1010.
Lindgren Collects from Golser
Golser raised to 6000 from the cut-off and Lindgren reraised to 9000 from the button, getting both blinds to fold. The flop came K87, and after Golser checked, Lindgren bet 3000 and took the pot down, showing 1010.
Wolfe Still on the Prowl
Charlie Wolfe was all-in for his last 2000 and showed ace-seven offsuit. Seat 1 called with ace-queen, but the 7 on the flop kept Wolfe alive. He then doubled up again on the next hand.
Sjavik Can't Connect
Jan Sjavik was all-in with Q10 preflop, and called by a player holding KJ. The flop of J-5-4 was bad news for Sjavik who was eliminated.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Ali Eslami Eliminated in Seventh Place ($41,441)
Ali Eslami was knocked down to 70,000 on the first hand after dinner, and that put him in dire straights when he had already committed over half of his chips to a pot and the flop hit the table 744. Eslami bet 20,000 and Jimmy Shultz put him to an all-in decision with a raise. Eslami made the call and they turned up their cards. Eslami held 95, while Shultz held A5. The turn brought the A, which was too much for Eslami who busted in seventh place. He took home $41,441 in prize money.
Markus Golser Eliminated in Sixth Place ($53,453)
Shultz raised to 40,000 preflop and Markus Golser made the call. The flop rolled out Q109 and Golser moved all in for 20,000. Shultz made the call and the two players turned up their hands.
Golser: AJ
Shultz: 97
The turn and river bricked out and Golser was eliminated in sixth place. He took home $53,453 in prize money.
Vinny Vinh Doubles Up
Vinny VInh was perilously low on chips when he got all of them into the middle of the table preflop against Shultz. Their cards:
Vinh: A8
Shultz: K3
Board: 8227Q
Vinh doubled up on the hand to 90,000, but he still needed some more ammo to climb back into contention. He used the momentum created on this hand well to eventually grow his stack to the half-million mark.
Teddy "Iceman" Monroe Eliminated in Fifth Place ($67,867)
Shultz raised to 40,000 preflop and Teddy "Iceman" Monroe made an all-in call for 30,000. Brendan Taylor also made the call and the flop hit the table1092. Taylor and Shultz then checked the board as the the 8 fell on the turn, and the J fell on the river. Shultz reached for a bet on the river, but Taylor mucked his hand. Shultz revealed 87 and Monroe was out in fifth place when he mucked after the hand. The Iceman took home $67,867 in prize money.
Brendan Taylor Eliminated in Fourth Place ($82,882)
Vinny Vinh got the best of Brendan Taylor after his vocal antics may have induced him to get invloved in heavy action on every street of a board that read 332Q3. Taylor made an all-in call on the river, but then mucked when Vinh revealed pocket eights. Taylor was eliminated in fourth place, and he took home $82,882 in prize money.

Mark Golser Crippled
Mark Golser and Vinny VInh got involved in a hand where they each put in 120,000 on a board of K966Q. On the end Vinh flipped up 96 for two pair, and he took down the pot. This left Golser decimated with only 20,000 left in front of him to work with.
Golser Triples Up
With his chip stack on life support, Golser raised all in for 27,000 preflop and he was called down by both Ali Eslami and Brendan Taylor. The flop fell J55 and Taylor bet. Eslami mucked and then the final two players turned up their hands. Golser held J9 and Taylor turned up K10. The turn and river failed to help Taylor and Golser survived to triple up.

Golser: KK
Board: 7649Q
Lindgren was eliminated in 10th place, and he took home $14,744 in prize money.
Vinny Vinh Puts on a Show on the Way to Second Chip Position
Vinny Vinh has easily been the most interesting feature on the final day. He showed up 45 minutes late, and then it was not apparenet that he realized things were down to a final table when the final 10 players took their seats. He has followed up these antics by dominating card play at the final table, and dominating the airwaves with his trash talk. He took down a hand that he bet on every street with pocket jacks, and then he took down a pot from Markus Golser with A4 on a board of Q6374. This took Vinh to well over 300,000, but he didn't stop there. Vinh then confronted the chip leader Jimmy Shultz, and won. Shultz mucked to a Vinh's bet on the turn of a board that read J1064. Vinh now holds over 400,000, and he is currently second in chips.

Arash Beral was eliminated on the very first hand of play when his A6 ran into the pocket queens of Markus Golser, and receieved no help on the table. Steve Foutty ran into even more trouble on the second hand when Ali Eslami made a full house to send him packing.
Ice Man Doubles Up
Teddy "Iceman" Monroe doubled up early in the preceding when he moved all of his chips into the middle on a board of J1063 and Golser made the call. Golser flipped up AQ and Mornoe turned over KJ. The river hit the table 2 and Monroe survived the hand.
Check out a video featuring Monroe's home on the High Stakes Living channel on CardPlayer TV.
Vinny Vinh's Chair Fills Up
Vinny Vinh made a late arrival during the first hour of play. There was some specualtion about whether he would turn up in time or not to finish the event today, especially considering that two times last year he did not show up to a tournament and his chair made the money.
Double Elimination
Duc Nguyen got all of his chips into the midde preflop, and both Zac Fellows and Eric Pratt made the call. The flop rolled out 1052 and Pratt moved his last 8,000 into the middle in the dark as the 4 hit on the turn. Pratt turned up AQ and Fellows showed down J5.

Vinny Vinh's Chair Fills Up
