European Action On a board of K654 Swede William Thorsson called a bet of 1,200. The turn fell the 5 and Thorsson slowly shook his head as his opponent bet 2,000. “Aces” he said to his opponent – less a question and more a statement of fact. “How did you know?,” was the reply. Thorsson counted his chips out twice and finally made the call but as he threw his chips in the middle he held his cards over the muck with his other hand. His opponent flashed the aces. “How did you know,” he asked again while raking in the chips. Elsewhere Englishman Mickey Wernick snatched a nice pot from Greg Raymer and has around 25,000 in chips. Hendon Mobster Ram Vaswani is the button to recent Irish Open winner Neil Channing’s big blind and both have just over their starting stacks. EPT boss John Duthie has 22,900 in chips and relaxing with a massage, Barny Boatman was pushed off two pots in a row just before the end of level one but still has around his starting stack while former Swedish international soccer star Tomas Brolin is on a comfortable 37,000. Grind BritainApr 13, '08 Irish Open winner Neil Channing has fetched up at PokerStars.com EPT London winner Vicky Coren's table - the pair know each other well from their regular stomping ground the Victoria Casino in London. At the next table ttwo other well-known Brits, Surinder Sunar and Mickey Wernick's found themselves at the same table - both have been playing in the biggest games across Europe and America since the early 1980s. Channing gesticulates at the table and says, apropos of nothing, "Would you look at that - there's some experience at that table. What a pair of grinders," grinned Channing pointing at Wernick and Sunar who both raise a weary, late night smile. When informed this might be himself and Coren in 30 years time Channing quips, "I hope that's not all we have to look forward to." Wernick announces back to the Channing/Coren table that he's all-in. "What he got," asks Channing. "A-K vs K-Q suited," is the response. "Does Mickey have the A-K," enquires Vicky standing up to have a look. "Of course he has the A-K," said Channing, deadpan as usual, without having to look up. Mickey duly wins the hand, doubles up, and despite being short-stacked announces proudly, "Back in the saddle." Mickey Wernick is struggling to get moving with about 7K. On a flop of J75 "The Worm" called a bet of 500. The flop came K and after his opponent checked Mickey bet 1,500. His opponent re-raised 5,000 and it didn't take Wernick too long to muck his hand with a sigh. Recent chip counts include:
