Vilandos: AQ
Jaffray: KQ
Board: Q3273
Jaffray was dominated and the board never offered him any help. Jaffray’s rash move cost him his tournament life as he was knocked out in 6th place, pocketing $105,699.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Gigantic pot means Schaedlich no longer has chip lead
Brian Schaedlich, who began the day with 801,000, limped in from under the gun and then called a raise to by Jeff Kimber. The flop came Q-5-3 and after some back-and-forth raises Schaedlich moved all in. Kimber, who began the day with 174,000 chips and had already gotten that up to over 300,000, called with pocket queens for a set. Schaedlich held pocket aces, and didn't catch an ace. After the hand Kimber was up to well over 600,000 chips, while Schaedlich dropped to around 400,000 chips.
Kings Hold For Teng
Andrew Teng raised from under-the-gun and was called by a single player in late position. The flop came out 742 and Teng led out for 7,000. His opponent moved all-in for a total of 39,000. Teng thought for a decent amount of time before calling and showing KK. His opponent sullenly flipped over his cards one at a time: the 8 and 8. The turn and river were the 5 and 4 and Teng’s stack grew to near 350,000.
Elky’s Read Is Right
Four players saw a limped flop and all of them checked the Q22 flop. The turn was the 3. Scott Clements checked, the big blind bet 3,000, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier and another player called and the trio saw the 10 on the river. Again the big blind bet. The third player folded but Grospellier made the call. The big blind showed KJ for a botched bluff attempt, and Elky’s QJ took down the pot. He now has 140,000.
Jaffray Takes Big Piece of Calhoun
Alan Jaffray was on the button, and after Matthew Calhoun limped from early position, Jaffrey raised to 6600. Calhoun, 18th to start the day in chips with just over 325,000, made the call, and the flop came 1085. Calhoun checked, Jaffray bet 8500, then Calhoun put in a reraise to 17,500. Jaffray called the raise, and together they saw the turn come 4. Calhoun led out for 25,000 and Jaffray called. The river paired the board with the 4 and Calhoun stepped out for 50,000. Jaffray made the call, admitting he was concerned about an overpair. Calhoun showed him the J10, but Jaffray took down the pot of just under 100,000 with A10.
Biebel Running Hot
Peter Biebel, second in chips to begin the day, was in the small blind and saw the table fold to him. He made the call of Chris Bjorin’s big blind, and they saw the flop come J44. Both players checked. The 10 was the turn card and Biebel stabbed with a 2500 bet. Bjorin called. The 2 was the river card and Biebel stepped out for 6000. Bjorin called again, and Biebel showed him 42 for the full house.
Kattamuri Can’t Close
A shortstack raised to 4500 from late position and Baja Kattamuri made the call from the big blind. The flop came AQ2, and Kattamuri then check-called another 5000 from his opponent. The turn brought the 4 and after Kattamuri checked, his opponent bet 15,000, leaving himself just 9000 in chips. Kattamuri made the call, and the J fell on the river. Kattamuri checked again, and his opponent went all-in. Kattamuri made the call and then mucked when his opponent showed AJ for two pair. It was a minor blow for Kattamuri, who began the day fourth overall in chip count.

Jul 11, '08
Blinds/Antes: 4,000-8,000-1,000
Players Remaining: 239 of 6,844
Average Chip Stack: 567,9670
Eliminations:

Eric Tom
Marco Marcon
Big Hands and Storylines:
Nicholas Sliwinski Eliminates Phongthep Thiptinnakon
Action folded around to Phongthep Thiptinnakon who moved in for 115,000. Action folded to Nicholas Sliwinski in the big blind. He insta-called and showed AK. Thiptinnakon’s KQ was dominated and when the board came A647A he was eliminated. That infusion of chips lifts Sliwinski to almost 800,000.
Ylon Schwartz Joins The Million Chip Club
On a board of JJ7, Edward Roger had to decide whether or not to call Ylon Schwartz’s bet of 309,000. After quiet and careful deliberation, Roger made the call. The two showed their hands:
Schwartz: QQ
Roger: 88
The turn was the J, sealing the hand for Schwarz. With that pot, Schwartz jumps to just over one million in chips. Roger is still more than healthy with about 750,000.
David Saab Hits Alan Jaffray Hard
An important hand occurred in the last level that we just got wind of via David Saab:
Action folded around to Helge Pederen in the cutoff who raised to 18,000. Alan Jaffray called on the button. David Saab, in the small blind, made it 60k to go after a bit of hesitation. Pedersen laid down his hand and action was back on Jaffray. Jaffray, perhaps suspicious of Saab (who had squeezed earlier), raised to 300k. Saab then moved all-in for another 500,000 and Jaffray made the call. Saab showed A-K and his hand held up against Jaffray’s A-9 offsuit. That hand decimated Jaffray’s stack, and he would be eliminated a short time later.
Saab now sits as one of the chip leaders with 1.7 million.
'Raptor' Swoops in for a Monster
David “Raptor” Benefield swept in with such precision, Eric Tom never knew what hit him. There was a raise to 24,000 from a player in early position, and Tom smooth-called from middle position. The player in front of the cut-off made the call as well, and Benefield in the small blind called to create a four-way pot, as James McManus in the big blind folded. The flop came 875, and after two checks, Tom stepped out for 100,000. Play was folded to Benefield, who called. The J hit the turn, and after Benefield checked, Tom announced all-in for 320,000. Benefield snap-called and showed the bad news – 96 in his hand for the nut straight plus a flush draw. Tom, with his QQ, was drawing dead as the 3 hit the river, and Benefield scooped in the monster 980,000 pot.
Queens Work for Qiu
Unlike Tom, the red ladies worked for Andrew Qiu. He was all-in for 149,000 with QQ against the AK of Terry Lade. The board ran out 95329 and Qiu doubled up.
Billirakis Bounces Marcon
Marco Marcon announced all-in from middle position for 113,000, and play was folded to Steve Billarakis in the small blind who made the call. Marcon held 77 while Billirakis held A10. Marcon watched as an ace flopped, coming A99, and never caught up with the 8 on the turn and 2 on the river.
Matusow Doubles Through Keller with Aces
On a flop of 983, Mike Matusow shipped in his remaining 271,000 into a pot already containing over 100,000 in chips. His opponent, Thomas Keller, went into the tank and deliberated for several minutes while considering his options. After counting out the necessary amount for a call, Keller announced as much and turned over 1010. Matusow stood up and pumped his fists into the air as he flipped over AA. After Matusow settled down, the dealer put down the K on the turn. “A jack would have been more interesting,” commented Gus Hansen, who wandered over from his nearby table to watch the action and brought a burst of laughter from the spectators. “I mean, for me. I’m just passing by,” he added. The 2 fell on the river, and Matusow won a large pot bringing his stack to almost 700,000. Keller was crippled and left with under 200,000 in chips.
Cantu bluffs to take down huge pot of over 700k
With the board 1010Q2, the small blind checked and then Brandon Cantu bet 125,000 from the button. The small blind thought it over for a long time before raising to 275,000. Cantu immediately asked how many chips he had left. When he heard about 350,000 he moved all in. The small blind folded and Cantu jumped out of his seat and flipped over AJ. Mike Matusow, who recently doubled up, turned around and took a look at the table. "Did you check-raise bluff Brandon?" Matusow asked. "You should have moved all in then. You have no idea how sick he is?"

Fox Takes a Hit Doubling Up an Opponent
While in the big blind, Stuart Fox faced an all in raise of 47,000 more from his opponent on the button. Fox made the call and turned over AJ, a raise against his opponent’s 33. The flop brought what Fox was undoubtedly dreading, 1032. The Kc on the turn gave some hope of an inside straight, but the 5 on the river failed to deliver.
Brent Hanks Makes the Call of the Day, Eliminates Alan Jaffray
On a board of AQ106, Brent Hanks found himself put to the test by Alan Jaffray. After making a bet, Hanks was raised all in by Jaffray for an additional 66,300 in chips. Hanks went into the tank and deliberated silently for several minutes while Jaffray waited patiently for his opponent to make a decision. Hanks looked and Jaffray and tried to explain his dilemma by saying, “I could be drawing dead if I make this call.” Hanks counted out 66,300 from his stack and paused for a few moments before announcing a call. Jaffray turned over KK, a semi-bluff with a king-high flush draw and an inside straight draw. Hanks pumped his fist as he turned over A9 for one pair, aces. The 3 came on the river, and Hanks immediately stood up to shake Jaffray’s hand.
Brogdon Makes a Laydown to an Opponent’s Aggression
Edward Brogdon raised to 9,000 from his position in the cut-off, and the action folded to his opponent in the big blind. After asking how much Brogdon had behind the raise, the big blind just called. The flop came AA8, and the big blind checked. Brogdon continued the aggression by making a bet of 14,000, which was called by his opponent. Both players checked when the 6 fell on the turn. The dealer put down the 9 as the river, and the big blind led out with a bet of 20,000. After deliberating for several minutes, Brogdon ultimately folded his pocket jacks face up.

Big Hands and Storylines:
Banducci Rivers “Roothlus”
After a series of pre-flop raising, Adam “Roothlus” Levy and Michael Banducci got all of their chips in. Levy was in great shape with his AK against the KQ of Banducci. The flop was a welcome one for Levy: T85. The turn was the 4 however, giving Banducci a flush draw to go along with his queen outs. The 7 came on the river, making Banducci the flush and banishing Levy to the rail. After the hand Banducci raked in a pot of 750,000.
The River Bites Back
An orbit later, Michael Banducci gets his 6-6 all-in pre-flop against the A-K of Randall “Randers” Haddox. The flop – T54 – was benign, as was the Q on the turn. The A spiked on the river though, giving Haddox a pair of aces and winning him a 500k pot. After the hand, Banducci was again back to 500,000 in chips.
Jaffray Finally Loses One
From the small blind, Michael Binger moves all-in for his last 100,000 chips and gets a call from Alan Jaffray. Binger’s T6 was up against Jaffray’s A3. The KQ9 flop gave Binger another four outs to count on, but it was one of his original outs – the T on the turn – that saved him. Binger doubled up to about 200,000, but is still one of the smallest stacks remaining.

With the elimination of Dan Adams, the field was pared to 18 players.
Seated at table #10 were Craig “MrCasino” Gray, Peter Gould, Clonie Gowen, Jon “FatalError” Aguiar, Ray “Exitonly” Coburn, Chris Moore, Jamie “TheCronic 420” Rosen, Alan Jaffray, and Steve Gross.

Jaffray Busts Two, Pads Chip Lead
Craig Gray raised from early position to 24,000. Chris Moore, on a short stack, shipped his last 50,000 into the pot. The hand grew even more interesting when big stack Alan Jaffray raised, effectively placing Gray all-in for 200,000. Gray called and turned up A-K. Jaffray showed T-T and the news got worse for Gray when Chris Moore tabled A6. The board ran out T36A2 and Jaffray eliminated two players, bringing his chip count to 800,000. With the elimination of the two, Michael Binger took a seat to Jaffray’s right at table 10.
Gowen Gone
With only 100,000 left, Clonie Gowen found herself all-in pre-flop with QJ against the AK of Jamie “TheCronic420” Rosen. The flop came a ragged 743, but the turn made 2 made Rosen sweat a bit. It wasn’t until the dealer rolled the 7 that Rosen could relax and drag a 230,000 chip pot. After busting Gowen, Rosen now sits with 600,000

Big Hands and Storylines:
Not a Safe Seat in the House
Upon getting down to 27 players, the 4 tables were condensed and the players were re-seated at three new tables. Despite this change of scenery the competition remained as fierce as ever. The players at each of the tables included:
Table 5: Amit “amak316” Makhija, Jon “FatalError” Aguiar, Lyric Duveyoung, Michael Banducci, Alan “The Usher” Sass
Table 10: Michael Binger, Nenad Medic, John Juanda, Clonie Gowen, Name Le, Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet
Table 15: Jeff “YellowSub86” Williams, Ray “ExitOnly” Coburn, Jamie “TheCronic420” Rosen, Craig “MrCasino” Gray, Randy “Randers” Haddox, Daniel Negreanu
Gould Ousts Juanda
John Juanda raised to 14,000 from the cutoff, Peter Gould raised to 54,000 from the button, and, with only 130,000 chips remaining, Juanda opted only to call. The two saw a flop of Q76 and Juanda immediately pushed his remaining 90,000 chips all-in. Gould went into the tank, believing Juanda to have a strong hand. Ultimately Gould made the call and was relieved to his TT far ahead of Juanda’s AK. The turn and river were the 9 and Q, and Gould took a walk from the table to celebrate his win and calm his nerves. Gould now has 350,000 chips.
Banducci’s Bluff Goes Bad
On a flop of J63, Michael Banducci led a 55,000 bet into Alan Jaffray. Jaffray called and the dealer laid out the Q. Banducci pushed out a mountain of orange T5,000 chips, putting Jaffray to a decision for his remaining 130,000 chips. Jaffray leaned back in his chair with his hands behind his head, his smile belying his inner-turmoil. He finally mustered up the will to make the call and flipped up KJ. Banducci unabashedly showed his bluff: A7. The 5 appeared on the river and Jaffray’s stack soared to 575,000. Banducci’s mistimed bluff chopped his stack to 300,000.
Blind Battle Claims Negreanu
A button limper, Phil Nguyen in the small blind, and Daniel Negreanu saw a flop of J87. Nguyen bet out 15,000 and Negreanu called. The button folded and the two blinds watched the dealer flip up the J. Again Nguyen led out – this time for 30,000 – but Negreanu came over the top for 100,000 total. Nguyen quickly raised all-in for 50,000 more and Negreanu had no choice to call with T9, an open-ended straight-flush draw. Unfortunately for him, Nguyen had turned a full house with J8 and Negreanu was drawing to 2-outs. The river came Q and Nguyen more than doubled up to 400,000. Negreanu, left with 30,000 after the hand, busted a short time later when his A-2 ran into the A-K of Ray “ExitOnly” Coburn.

Big Hands:
Online Table?
Most of the players left at the final table are internet young guns, although you couldn't tell by the pace of eliminations. The first eight hands were quite eventful with Steve Gross, Jamie Rosen, and Michael Binger hitting the rail in succession. But here we are 50 hands in still playing six-handed poker.
Jonathan Aguiar Doubles Up
Jonathan Aguiar got all of his chips into the middle against Michael Banducci on a board of 972QJ. They turned up their hands and Aguiar held J3 Banducci's 74. Aguiar survived the hand and doubled up.
Online Railbirds
Many players from the online world are sweating this final table . Faces spotted in the crowd include Amit Makhija and Vivek Rajkumer. We'll let you know if anyone else stops in to watch the action.
Worst Hat Ever?
Their is a gentleman at the table today who has made an intersting fashion decision. His name is Alan Jaffray, and the hat he is wearing can best be described as something a Northeastern aristocratic woman would wear to the Kentucky Derby - with a PokerStars patch thrown on it for good measure. Picture Alan on the left here with said hat, and you can imagine the looks he has garnered at the final table today.

Eliminations:
Adam “Roothlus” Levy
Alan “The Usher” Sass
