“You call with trash and nine people behind,” Dave Banerjee, who won the Mega Millions VIII here at the Bicycle Casino, asked Mark Tippman. “Is that normal behavior?”

“It was only 5,500,” Tippman said. Tippman was speaking from a comfortable chip lead as he scooped up a pot he won from Banerjee.

Banerjee raised to 5,500 from under-the-gun and Tippman called from his left.

The flop came 6792 and both players checked. A 2 came on the turn and they checked again. Banerjee and Tippman also checked the river and Banerjee mucked after Tippman showed 64.

That’s what prompted Banerjee’s comment and Tippman’s smile.

Mark Tippmann Doubles Up

Daniel Straus raised to 1,600 in early position and Chris Richter made the call. Mark Tippmann then three-bet to 3,200 form the cutoff and Straus called.

Richter then reraised to 7,600 and Tippmann moved all in for 26,300. Straus mucked his cards relatively quickly and Richter made the call.

Richter showed A Q and Tippmann showed 9 9, prompting Straus to lament that fact that he folding pocket queens.

The board ran out K J 6 4 8 and Tippmann more than doubled up. Richter was left with 1,500 in chips and Straus was left shaking his head.
