Edler Sidesteps Cooler
With over $300,000 in the pot and the board reading 9
9
3
, Imran Amhad pushed his last $508,000 into the pot. After some thought Phillip Yeh pushed all in over the top. Bill Edler was on the button and quickly folded. Yeh asked, "Queens?" as he turned over his K
K
. He was right on the money as Amhad turned over Q
Q
. The turn and the river were the 6
and the K
, and Yeh scooped the pot. Edler intimated to Card Player's Tim Lavali, that he had folded pocket Jacks. He said that he had called the $95,000 preflop knowing he was most likely behind and right he was.
Roller Coaster
Robin Bergen was all in preflop for his tournament life, and was of course the victim of the poker god's cruel sense of humor. Bergen held the advantage with A
A
against Martin Miller's Q
Q
. Miller surged ahead with the K
Q
4
flop. Bergen received no help on the turn as the 9
fell, but found vindication on the river as the A
peeled off to keep him in the tournament.
DeBest & Dario
Peter DeBest has been seated at the table with Dario Minieri, and has been privy to his wide range of starting hands. Debest was able to sniff out one of Minieri's bluffs, but then fell victim to the next. On a 9
8
2
flop Debest bet $110,000, only to get raised by Mineri to $310,000. Debest eventually made the call, and both players checked both the 6
turn and the A
on the river. Debest showed Q-Q and Minieri mucked. A few hands later Mineri reraised DeBest's preflop raise to $120,000. After careful consideration, and Mineri proceeded to try and double his bet, exposing his "double-down hand" 8-3 offsuit.
Kravchenko the King of Vegas
Alex Kravchenko raised preflop from early position to $35,000, Karim Vegas moved all in over the top, and Kravchenko hesitated very little before calling with A
A
. Vegas showed 10
10
and needed some help. The board ran out 9
8
4
Q
Q
, and Vegas was eliminated.
Huck Seed Busts One
Huck Seed raised from early position, and after the button called, Robert Nehorayan moved all in for about $280,000 more from the big blind. After lots of thought Seed made the call and showed Q
Q
, and he led Nehorayan's 10
10
. Seed maintained his lead on the flop of A
9
7
, the turn Q
virtually sealed Nehorayan's fate, and the 4
fell on the river.
There are currently 145 players left.
