Action Slows
The players returned from break and action continued. All the big name professionals remained in the field. While Ray Henson, and PokerStars online qualifier Hevad “Rain” Khan remained at the top of the heap. While these two players have a lot of chips, this year's field lacks a distinct, overwhelming chip leader, a la Jamie Gold from the 2006 edition of the main event. It may be due to this lack of a behemoth stack, or the relative lack of small stacks that has caused the pace of bust outs and play to slow down over the last hour. It could also be due to the fact that the prize money is getting into some serious territory and each decision could mean tens of thousands of dollars to these players.
Recent Eliminations
Nicolas Atlan was eliminated in 47th place when his K 9 ran into the J 8 on a board of 8 5 2 Q 10.
Raegan Silber was busted in 46th place when his Q Q could not hold up against his opponent’s A-K when a king hit on the flop. The Las Vegas native got a round of applause from the surprisingly large group of spectators at this late hour.
Stig Rasmussen was eliminated in 45th place when he was dominated with A 9 by his opponent’s A Q. The board was dealt 3 2 2 8 6 and he hit the rail $237,865 richer.
Down to Five Tables
Despite the slow pace of action the final five tables were reached and table seven was broken out by the furthest reaches of the rail. Daniel Alaei was moved in right next door to Bill Edler at table six, while Scotty Nguyen took a seat next Ayaz Mahmood at table two.
