The first Card Player OPoker Tour Venetian main event was held in 2013. That time, the tournament sported a $5,000 buy-in. A total of 262 entries were made, building a prize pool of $1,224,850.

In the end, Card Player’s own Allyn Shulman emerged victorious with the title and the top prize of $293,966.

Shulman overcame a stacked final table that included the likes of two-time World Poker Tour champion, three-time WPT champion and four-time bracelet winner Anthony Zinno, and Dan O’Brien.

Andy Seth raised to 1,325 from under the gun and 2013 CPPT Venetian main event champion Allyn Shulman moved all in for 6,925 from middle position.

Seth went deep into the tank, as the shove represented a pretty sizable amount of his stack were he to call.

After a few minutes he made the call with the K10 and saw that he was in a race against Shulman’s 99.

Edwards bagged 164,400 followed by Adam Friedman with 161,900 and Andrew Fair with 139,800.

The first of two starting days drew a total of 64 entries including Card Player’s own Barry Shulman, Mark Gregorich, former CPPT bestbet Jacksonville final tablist Yi Li and Carbon Poker online qualifiers Cole Macy, Andy Asnicar and Duane Mispagle.

Card Player’s Allyn Shulman, the only former CPPT main event champion in the field and the tour’s all-time money winner, survived Day 1A with 72,000.

Mark Gregorich Leads Final 39

The final starting day of the inaugural Card Player Poker Tour St. Maarten main event came to a close with a total of 138 entries and a $207,000 prize pool.

Mark Gregorich leads the final 39 players with a stack of 231,900. Joan Sandoval put away 203,300 for the night and Slamani Tahar will return with 199,100.

bestbet Jacksonville regular Mark Stephen Edwards bagged the Day 1A chiplead (164,400) and will be near the top of the pack when Day 2 begins.

Jesse Hollander, bestbet Jacksonville Director of Poker Operations, and Kristy Arnett will also be back on Day 2.

The final 39 players will return at 2 pm local time on Saturday and play down to a winner. Live updates of all the action will be provided on CardPlayer.com.

The eventual champion will be the fifth main event winner of Season III of the CPPT, joining Fred Paradis, Maxim Sorokin, Nick Weinberg and Chan Pelton on the list of champions.

This could be the stop to crown the tour’s first two-time champion as 2013 CPPT Venetian Deepstacks main event winner Allyn Shulman is still in the field. Shulman is also the tour’s all-time money winner.

Already here in St. Maarten she finished fourth in a $340 no-limit hold’em bounty event and won the $340 pot-limit Omaha event for $2,880. As it stands, Shulman has earned $314,467 in CPPT events, more than any other player in the tour’s three season run.

Even thought she bagged 72,000 on Day 1A, Shulman is back today to see if she can improve on that and take home an additional $4,000 for bagging two stacks.

On a side note, there is another CPPT winner in the field, although not a main event winner. Andrew Moreno won a CPPT prelim at the Venetian Deepstacks the same year Shulman won the main event!

Mark Stephen Edwards Leads Day 1A

Mark Stephen Edwards bagged the largest stack of the night on Day 1A of the Card Player Poker Tour St. Maarten inaugural $1,650 no-limit hold’em $200,000 guarantee main event.

Edwards bagged 164,400 followed by Adam Friedman with 161,900 and Andrew Fair with 139,800.

The first of two starting days drew a total of 64 entries including Card Player’s own Barry Shulman, Mark Gregorich, former CPPT bestbet Jacksonville final tablist Yi Li and Carbon Poker online qualifiers Cole Macy, Andy Asnicar and Duane Mispagle.

Card Player’s Allyn Shulman, the only former CPPT main event champion in the field and the tour’s all-time money winner, survived Day 1A with 72,000.

Day 1B will begin Friday at 1:30 pm local time and live updates will be provided throughout the day on CardPlayer.com.

Shulman called for her tournament life with the AA and was in fantastic shape against her opponent’s JJ.

Allyn Shulman Joins The Field

Allyn Shulman is the all-time money leader on the Card Player Poker Tour, and she has just joined the field here on day 1A. The 2013 CPPT Venetian main event champion scored $293,966 in that event, and then went on to finish 19th in the CPPT Choctaw main event later that same year.

Already here in St. Maarten she finished fourth in a $340 no-limit hold’em bounty event and won the $340 pot-limit Omaha event for $2,880. She will be looking to add to her CPPT total earnings of $314,467 with a deep run here in the CPPT St. Maarten main event.

Mark Gregorich Leads Final 39

The final starting day of the inaugural Card Player Poker Tour St. Maarten main event came to a close with a total of 138 entries and a $207,000 prize pool.

Mark Gregorich leads the final 39 players with a stack of 231,900. Joan Sandoval put away 203,300 for the night and Slamani Tahar will return with 199,100.

bestbet Jacksonville regular Mark Stephen Edwards bagged the Day 1A chiplead (164,400) and will be near the top of the pack when Day 2 begins.

Jesse Hollander, bestbet Jacksonville Director of Poker Operations, and Kristy Arnett will also be back on Day 2.

The final 39 players will return at 2 pm local time on Saturday and play down to a winner. Live updates of all the action will be provided on CardPlayer.com.

The eventual champion will be the fifth main event winner of Season III of the CPPT, joining Fred Paradis, Maxim Sorokin, Nick Weinberg and Chan Pelton on the list of champions.

This could be the stop to crown the tour’s first two-time champion as 2013 CPPT Venetian Deepstacks main event winner Allyn Shulman is still in the field. Shulman is also the tour’s all-time money winner.

Allyn Shulman And Jesse Hollander Clash

The player under the gun raised to 3,100 and from middle position Allyn Shulman made it 7,000.

It folded to Jesse Hollander in the cutoff and he made it 20,000 to go. The initial raiser folded and Shulman went deep into the tank.

“Sorry, big decision,” she told the table as she considered her options. Eventually she opted to fold.

“Show if I show?” she asked.

Hollander agreed and showed Shulman the AK. He would have been racing against Shulman’s QQ.

CPPT Champ Allyn Shulman Back For More

There is only one player in the field who has won a CPPT main event, and that player happens to be Card Player’s very own Allyn Shulman.

Shulman won the 2013 CPPT Venetian Deepstacks main event for $293,966 and then went on to finish 19th in the CPPT Choctaw main event later that same year.

Already here in St. Maarten she finished fourth in a $340 no-limit hold’em bounty event and won the $340 pot-limit Omaha event for $2,880. As it stands, Shulman has earned $314,467 in CPPT events, more than any other player in the tour’s three season run.

Even thought she bagged 72,000 on Day 1A, Shulman is back today to see if she can improve on that and take home an additional $4,000 for bagging two stacks.

On a side note, there is another CPPT winner in the field, although not a main event winner. Andrew Moreno won a CPPT prelim at the Venetian Deepstacks the same year Shulman won the main event!

Allyn Shulman moved all in after a pre-flop raise from Andrew Fair from the button and a call from Benichou Paul in the small blind. Fair got out of the way and Benichou called with the 88. Shulman flipped up the J10.

The board was dealt AA387.

Shulman was eliminated, meaning we will have a first time CPPT champion in this event. However, Shulman further padded her lead as the tour’s all-time money winner!

Benichou Paul made it 33,000 from under the gun and Enrici Christophe called from the small blind. Andrew Fair called from the big blind and the dealer spread K9. Action checked to Paul and bet bet 33,000. Christophe raised it up to 70,000 and Fair got out of the way. Paul called and the dealer turned over the 2. Christophe bet 100,000 and Paul called. The river was the 7 and Christophe slid his stack of about 500,000 to the middle. Paul thought for a few moments and folded his hand, showing the K. Christophe showed two nines and scooped the pot.
