The original programmer of Microsoft Word, Richard "Quiet Lion" Brodie has played home games with Bill Gates.
As with anything intellectually challenging, Brodie took to the game like a fish to water. After watching his progress blossom, he eventually decided to start with online tournaments and fared quite well. It wasn't long before Brodie decided to give live play a shot and finished second in just his third tournament.
In 2007, Brodie was banned from all Harrah's casinos and not allowed to participate in the WSOP. According to his blog, however, it was overturned one month later and Harrah's executives admitted the ban was a mistake. Still, Brodie decided to take some time off from the game and has been scarcely seen on the tournament circuit.
