Montgomery Takes Care of RichardsonJun 23, '10 Blinds: 50,000-100,000 with a 10,000 ante Players Remaining: 2 out of 3,102 Average Chip Count: 4,653,000 Tournament Leaderboard: 1. Scott Montgomery – 5,870,000 Notable Eliminations: 3. Adam Richardson – $210,892 Big Hands: Adam Richardson Eliminated in Third Place ($210,892) Scott Montgomery had just crippled Adam Richardson when they got in four bets preflop and Montgomery’s K-7 out-flopped Richardson’s A-10 to leave Richardson with just 500,000. He then moved all-in for his last 500,000 and was called by Scott Montgomery. Montgomery showed the Q10 and Richardson was slightly ahead with his KJ. The dealer peeled off a 9Q8, giving Montgomery the lead and Richardson was going to need a king or a 10 to take the lead back. The turn was the J and the river was the 6, giving the pot to Montgomery and sending Richardson home in third place. Montgomery now takes on Mick Carlson for the bracelet. Player Tags: Adam Richardson, Scott Montgomery Daniel Fuhs EliminatedJun 23, '10 Blinds: 40,000-80,000 with a 10,000 ante Players Remaining: 3 out of 3,102 Average Chip Count: 3,102,000 Tournament Leaderboard: 1. Scott Montgomery – 3,200,000 Notable Eliminations: 4. Daniel Fuhs – $152,655 Big Hands: Daniel Fuhs Eliminated in Fourth Place ($152,655) Daniel Fuhs moved all-in for his last 525,000 and Scott Montgomery called from the big blind. It was a classic race situation when Fuhs showed the K9 and Montgomery held the 66. The dealer ran out the board A7833 and Fuhs couldn’t outrun the pocket pair of Montgomery to be eliminated in fourth place. This leaves Montgomery with a slight chip lead three-handed, but all players have around the same count. Player Tags: Daniel Fuhs, Scott Montgomery |

Level 1 Update: Randy Couture Almost SubmittedMay 30, '10 Blinds: 25-25 Players Remaining: 1,699 out of 4,330 Notable Eliminations: None Card Player Chip Counts: Stephen Murphy – 5,500 Big Hands: Scott Montgomery Going In the Right Direction After a raise preflop, Scott Montgomery and three others saw a flop of K38. After a bet of 125, Montgomery decided to raise the action to 425. Eric Baldwin took close to a minute before finally letting his hand go and the other hands hit the muck much quicker. Later on in the level, Montgomery was moved to a much softer table when this hand took happened. Scott Montgomery raised preflop and got two callers. The flop was 298 and Montgomery followed up with a bet of 300. He was met with a raise to 700 and he fairly quickly moved his opponents remaining 1,700 into the middle. It didn’t take his opponent too long to muck his hand and Montgomery now has about 6,000. Randy Couture Fights Back With just 1,100 in his stack, Randy Couture and two other players called a 125 bet from the player under-the-gun. The flop came K42 and everyone checked. The turn brought the Q and the player under-the-gun checked. The next player to act bet 425 and Couture made the call, while everyone else mucked. The 10 hit the felt and Couture’s opponent checked. Couture moved all in for his last 550. His opponent made the call and Couture tabled the Q10 for two pair and dragged in the pot to get back up to 2,400 in chips. J.C. Tran Loses Some Chips Anyone remember the early days of last year’s $1,000 no-limit hold’em event? J.C. Tran dominated the field early on, pacing all competitors before falling late in the event. This year Tran is not faring so well, not yet at least. We caught up with the action on a board AJ522. An opponent checked to Tran on the button, who fired out 250. His opponent check-raised all in for 750 total and Tran made the call. His opponent tabled pocket fives for a set. Tran is down to 2,300. The Winning Hand Must Show Jason Somerville limped in for 25 from early position for 25 and then called a raise to 125. Somerville and his opponent took the flop heads up which was K73 and both players checked. The 10 fell on the turn and Somerville bet 175 and was called. The river was the J and Somerville bet 300 which was hesitantly called. Somerville instantly mucked his cards, and was obviously bluffing. The player who called the bet then wanted to muck his hand and still get the pot. Jason Mercier, who was sitting at an adjacent table, and seemingly friends with Somerville said that the winning hand was supposed to show and that a floor should be called. A floor was called and after the floor came over, he said that the winning hand must be turned over. Upon hearing this, The player then wanted Somerville’s hand exposed. The floor said that it was a live hand and risked losing the pot if Somerville turned over the winning hand. Somerville turned over 52 and lost to the AK of his opponent. Player Tags: J.C. Level 2 Update: Daniel Negreanu UpsetDec 14, '09 Blinds: 100-200 Players Remaining: 236 out of 244 (unofficial) Chip Counts: 1. John Cernuto — 135,000 Card Player Chip Counts: Barry Shulman — 68,000 Average Chip Count: 62,000 Notable Eliminations: Jason Burt Big Hands: Chino Rheem’s Trips Boost Him Above Starting Stack Mike McClain raised to 525 in early position and was called by Mohsin Charania and Chino Rheem in the blinds. The flop came down K42 and everyone checked. The turn was the 8 and Rheem fired in a bet of 800. McClain called and Charania got out of the way. The river was the 8 and Rheem bet 2,200. McClain called and Rheem showed him 108 to scoop the pot with trips. The defending champion now has over 65,000 in chips. Scott Montgomery Makes Sure He Gets Paid The cutoff raised to 600 and Scott Montgomery called on the button. The flop came A89 and both players checked. The turn was the 2 and the cutoff bet 1,000. Montgomery called and the river was the A. The cutoff checked and Montgomery put in a bet of 2,700. His opponent thought for a few moments before making the call, however, his chips did not entirely cross the line. Montgomery paused to ask the dealer if it was an official call and once he receieved confirmation, he turned over the winning AJ for trip aces. We’re not sure if Montgomery was afraid of an angle shoot, but either way, he now has a stack of 51,000. Jason Mercier Headed South With His Stack We’re not entirely sure of the preflop action, but it appeared as though Jason Mercier raised to 625 in the cutoff and Soheil Shamseddin reraised to 1,800 from the small blind. Benjamin Zamani then reraised to 5,925 and Mercier made the call. Shamseddin folded and both players checked a flop of K103. The turn was the 6 and Zamani bet 7,000, getting a call from Mercier. The river was the 3 and both players checked. Zamani showed A10 to take the pot and boost his stack to 68,000. Meanwhile, Mercier is down to 48,000. Left In The Deck: Negreanu Not Happy About Table Draw There are currently three tables in the poker room and Daniel Negreanu is seated at one, clearly not happy about his table draw. On his personal twitter account (RealKidPoker), Negreanu voiced his concerns. “Wow Bellagio officially runs the worst tourney in the country now. Sign up after a guy and you get position on him at the table. Mind boggling. At my table Men and Scotty Nguyen and Elky. We all signed up together.” Here’s a look at the rest of Negreanu’s lineup. Seat 1: Billy Kopp All three tables are pretty stacked with well-known professionals, but it doesn’t look like they will break anytime soon, thanks to the very slow structure and extremely deep stacks. POY Watch: Card Player TV spoke with current Player of the Year leader Eric Baldwin about his chances to take the overall crown, as well as his recent victory in the $1,000 rebuy tournament here at Bellagio.
