Straight Flush for Jeff Madsen
Jeff Madsen opted to defend his small blind from a cut-off raise. Madsen check-raised his opponent on the 987 flop, causing his opponent to call. On the J turn, Madsen led out and his opponent called. Madsen again bet the J river, and after his opponent folded he turned over his queen-high straight flush.
Shulman Family Thriving
Both father and son Barry and Jeff Shulman have close to 40,000 in chips as level 12 ends. Earlier in the no-limit portion, Barry Shulman contested a pot with Phil Laak. On a flop of Q84, Laak bet and was raised all in by Barry. Laak pondered for several minutes and counted his remaining chips before electing to fold. Laak surrendered approximately half of his stack to Barry on the hand, and now has less than 10,000.
Jeff Shulman lost a little to Marcel Luske on a board of J7763 when Luske bet 2,000 on the river. Shulman quickly called, and Luske turned over JT. Shulman mucked, and Luske added to his growing stack.
Minieri Eliminated
Facing a late position raise, Dario Minieri moved all in for 8,650 from the button. The raiser called and flipped over the JJ. Caught in a bluff, Minieri exposed the 97. The board brought a 9 for Minieri, but failed to give him enough to overtake the jacks.

Big Hands:
Nick Schulman Crippled
After his nut flush draw failed to crack his opponents’ top pair, Nick Schulman was left with a total remaining stack of 475 in chips. He threw his stack into the middle on the next hand with AK and was eliminated by his opponent’s pocket jacks.
Jennifer Tilly Folds Under Pressure
Facing a check-raise from her opponent on a board of AJ73Jennifer Tilly made the call to see a river of the J. Tilly’s opponent led out, and she contemplated her situation before releasing her hand. Her opponent flipped over the KQ for the nut flush. Tilly was left with slightly more than 5,000 in chips
Bloch Bleeds Badly
Andy Bloch lost thousands of chips during the limit round over the span of only a few hands. In the first, Bloch raised pre-flop from late position and was called by his opponent in the small blind. His opponent led out on every street of the KJ855 board, and each time Bloch made the call. His opponent flipped over the KK at the showdown, and Bloch mucked his hand. Within the same orbit, he had doubled up another player at his table. After the two hands, he was left with under 14,000.
Antonio Esfandiari Doubles Up His Short Stack
After raising from late position and being called only by his opponent on the button, Antonio Esfandiari led out on the 433 flop and was raised. Esfandiari made the call, and let out again when the 2 fell on the turn. Again he was raised by his opponent, this time for all of his chips. Esfandiari made the call and flipped over the AJ which was behind his opponents’ QQ. The 6 on the river completed Esfandiari’s flush, improving his stack to slightly over 6,000.
Amit Makhija Eliminated
Phil Hellmuth led out from the big blind on a flop of J83 and Amit Makhija called all in with the remainder of his chips. The player on the button raised, and Hellmuth made the call. Phil checked the 6 on the turn and mucked when his opponent bet. Amit flipped over an unimproved KQ against his opponents’ QJ. The blank on the river sent Amit to the rail empty-handed.
