Recap:
Play has ended for the day after Alessandro Dalbello was eliminated in 10th place by David Steicke: Dalbello moved all in under the gun for 90,000 and was called by Steicke, who held ace queen against Dalbello's ace nine. Both players flopped an ace, but Steicke's kicker held, and Dalbello was the last player eliminated for the night.
Meanwhile, Andrew Jeffreys continues to play the big stack, although Blair Hinkle did take a chunk from him on Jeffreys' first slip-up of the evening. And Dustin Dirksen, after shooting his stack to upwards of 1.2 million, has suffered several minor setbacks in the last half hour.
Big Hands
Europeans Go Heads
The first action of ten handed play was initiated by Chris Bjornin, the oldest player at the table and one of two Europeans (the other being Tayer Stephane). Bjornin raised to 52,000 from middle position and Stephane moved all in from the button for 71,000 more. Bjornin showed down 77, well behind Stephane's KK. A king on the flop pretty well sealed the deal. Stephane leapt from his seat amid a hail of applause from his cheering section.
Dirksen Bluffs Hinkle in Battle of Online Overconsanted Pros
Dirksen opened to 52,000 on the button and Hinkle raised from the big blind to 152,000. Dirksen called. The flop came K74 and Hinkle lead out for 175,000. Dirksen called. The K on the turn halted Hinkle, who checked. Dirksen obliged by betting 225,000, about two thirds of Hinkle's remaining stack. Hinkle deliberated before folding. Dirksen showed down 95 for a cold-hearted bluff.
Brockington Doubles Up
Dirksen gave some of those chips back a few hands later when he raised 55,000 under the gun and Mark Brockington moved all in on the short stack for 250,000. Dirksen made the all with 1010, slightly ahead of Brockington's AQ. The board ran out KQ48Q and Brockington doubled up.
Jeffreys Errs
Jeffreys finally made a mistake at the hands of young Blair Hinkle, who had seen his stack fluctuate all evening. Jeffreys limped on the small blind and Hinkle raised 42,000 more. Jeffreys responded by reraising to 200,000, and Hinkle moved all in. Jeffreys called with A7 against Hinkle's AK. The board provided some excitement, as it came 8634, but the K fell harmlessly on the river and Hinkle doubled up to almost a million chips. Jeffreys fell to about 1.1 million.
