Quads Enough to Determine Final Table
The call of "all-in" didn't come from the most expected source, but it still brought an end to the evening. The final 10 players played a full hour before the final elimination was made, and it came courtesy the chip leader.
It began with John Conroy, who had been content to donate his blinds as he remained one of the more inactive players of the final group. Anderson Silva had limped under the gun for 30,000 and Conroy then raised to 120,000. Play was folded to significant chip leader Rasmus Nielsen in the big blind, who asked what Conroy had remaining. Nielsen then announced he was all-in. But with all the attention back on Conroy, it was Silva who sent a shock through the crowd when he also announced all-in.
Conroy was quick to fold his pocket 10s into the muck, and the expected had happened. Nielsen had AA while Silva was possessing KK. And Nielsen would end the night in style, hitting the flop that came AJ2, then after the 9 on the turn, spiking the last remaining A on the river for quads.
Nielsen is the runaway chip leader with almost 3,000,000 in chips. However the WSOP veteran J.C. Tran is second at just over 1,400,000. Only Joe Pelton is also above the million mark.
Players will return to play the final table Monday at 2 p.m. local time.

Big Hands
Vicious Runner-Runner Sinks Pierce
Steve Pierce will have a story to tell at the end of this world series. Parviz Razavian raised under the gun to 50,000, and when play came back to Pierce in the big blind he moved all-in for 85,000 more. Razavian tanked, knowing the call was for half of his remaining stack. But call he did, showing A8, while Pierce tabled 77. The window card of the flop started the emotions, the 8 hitting Razavian. But the next card to appear was the 7 and suddenly Pierce had life. The 3 completed the flop. The 8 was the turn card, filling Pierce but giving Razavian some outs. And he hit, the A on the river sending Pierce to the rails in cruel fashion.
Razavian Gives it Back
Parviz Razavian didn't enjoy his windfall for long, though you couldn't fault him for the hand. The flop came down 1092 and Robert Kalb, the first to act, bet 160,000. Jason Moungey then moved all-in for 450,000, and before that dust had settled, Razavian called all-in as well. Kalb had a decision to make, and it proved a wise one, as he folded pocket queens. Moungey had flopped a set, holding 22, while Razavian had top two pair with 109. There was no full house for Razavian on this board however, as the 5 and 4 completed the hand.
Nielsen Ends Switzer's Night
Brett Switzer moved all-in for about 225,000 and chip leader Rasmus Nielsen made the call. Switzer held 1010, but he trailed the AJ of Nielsen after the flop came out A75. The K on the turn and 3 on the river sent the chips to Nielsen.
Siu Doubles Through Silva
Chad Siu moved all-in from under the gun for 153,000 and got a call from Anderson Silva in the big blind. Siu showed AK while Silva held 44. Silva managed to dodge the flop that came 862, but the A on the turn put Siu out front and the K on the river ended the hand.
Nathan Doubles Through Siu
Kevin Nathan moved all-in preflop and Chad Siu called showing ace-queen. He was behind the ace-king of Nathan, until the flop of ace-queen-five. But a king on the turn gave Nathan a better two pair and kept him in the tournament.

Storylines/Big Hands
Play has slowed considerably after two quick eliminations shortly after players redrew seats for the final two tables. Lots of preflop raising is going uncalled, and few hands get to the river.
Kohnen Doubles Up with Kings
J.C. Tran was under the gun and raised to 42,000, before Peter Nguyen reraised to 137,000. Christoph Kohnen was next to act and moved all-in for just over 300,000. Tran quickly folded and Nguyen made the call, showing JJ. Kohnen held KK. The flop came AQ7, and finished with the 9 on the turn and 2 on the river as Kohnen doubled his stack.
Silva Still Aggressive
Anderson Silva is a fan of the all-in ploy, and has the chip stack to deter almost all callers. After he raised to 50,000 from the button, chip leader Rasmus Nielsen looked him up from the big blind. The flop came A102, and after Nielsen checked SIlva uttered another all-in and managed to take the pot.
Moungey Takes from Nguyen
Jason Moungey in the small blind raised to 45,000 and Peter Nguyen called. The flop came Q98 and Moungey bet out 80,000. Nguyen folded to the move.
Razavian Doubles Up
Jason Moungey raised and Parviz Razavian moved all-in for 135,000. Moungey called and showed A8. He trailed the AJ of Razavian, and never improved when the board finished 107422.
Mounrey Flushes for Win
John Conroy raised to 35,000 from the button and Jason Moungey called from the big blind. The flop came 643 and both players checked. The A was the turn card, Moungey checked, then called a 41,000 bet from Conroy. The 8 on the river completed the four-flush and both players checked again. Moungey held A9 for the flush, which bettered Conroy's AQ.
Siu Makes His Move
Chad Siu was under the gun and raised to 37,000. Brett Switzer, on the button, reraised to 116,000. Siu elected to make the call. The flop came Q106 and Siu quickly announced all-in. Switzer released his hand.

Big Hands
Conroy On a Convoy To Success
John Conroy is on a roll, but it was Anderson Silva who gave him the big push. The two players saw a flop come K62, and after a bet and a raise, Conroy was suddenly all-in for his 307,000 in chips. He flipped over AK for top pair top kicker, and Silva was a distant second with KJ. The 4 on the turn and 2 on the river sent the massive pot to Conroy.
Conroy then added David Tran to the ranks of the eliminated. Tran moved all-in with 1010 and Conroy made the call with A10. An ace hit on the flop and Tran was destined for 21st place overall. Conroy topped the 700,000 mark with the two victories.
Moungey Makes Easy Call
Jason Moungey watched as Kirby Brewer moved all-in from under the gun for his final 70,000. Moungey called and showed AK. Brewers held K9. An ace on the flop virtually clinched the win for Moungey, with the board running out A-7-6-9-2.
Tran Bounces Nguyen
J.C. Tran raised and Men Nguyen pronounced all-in. It was an easy call for Tran, holding aces, while Nguyen was eventually eliminated having held six-three offsuit.
Black Busted
Andy Black was in the small blind and facing a raise from chip leader Rasmus Nielsen. Black pushed out 100,000 in chips and Nielsen reraised all-in which Black called. Black held AQ but had run into the KK of Nielsen and was eliminated.

Big Hands
From Losing, To Chop, To Victory
Men Nguyen is no stranger to celebrations, and he's getting plenty of practice as play continues in a narrow field. It began with a dominated ace. Nguyen was all-in for 32,000 with A9, which trailed the AQ of Matthew Matros. The flop came AK2 and both players had a pair. Another deuce on the turn brought the king into play as the kicker and both players were looking at a chopped pot. Then the 9 hit the river and Nguyen suddenly was sweeping in the chips.
Fate turned especially cruel for Matros a few hands later. Nguyen pushed all-in for 103,000 from the cutoff with just the 104 in his possession. Matros made the call with 55. The flop came Q88 and Matros was still ahead, but the board double-paired on the turn with the Q and suddenly Nguyen's 10 was the superior kicker. The 2 on the river sent another stack to Nguyen.
The stunned Matros was finally eliminated for his few remaining chips, almost fittingly, when his dominating 7-5 offsuit lost to the 7-4 offsuit of Anderson Silva when a four fell on the river.
Right Call, Wrong Time
Hevad Khan bet 22,000 after the flop came Q98. Anderson Silva, the next player to act, then raised all-in, having Khan covered. Khan, with just over 100,000 in chips, made the call and showed KQ for top pair. Silva flipped over 76. But the 5 came on the turn to complete the straight and send Khan out in 31st place.
Tran Keeps it Business-like
J.C. Tran continues to utilize his big stack. After a flop of J63 he bet 25,000 from the button and took down the pot. A few hands later, after Andy Black raised to 30,000 preflop, Tran in the small blind reraised to 105,000. Black folded. The next hand Tran went with a different tactic, min-raising to 20,000 from the button. The big blind called and the flop came 653. The big blind checked, Tran bet 22,000, and that was enough to take the pot down.
