Born in Vietnam under the name Hieu Ngoc Ma, "Tony," otherwise known as "The Animal" immigrated to Southern California in 1985 and became a permanent part of the California poker community. With the support of his loving wife and two children, Ma has continued his winning ways. He was one of the most consistent players of the 1990s and the winner of Card Player'sPlayer of the Year award in 1999.

Ma has earned two World Series of Poker bracelets, both in limit hold'em events. A top-flight player of many styles of poker, Ma has earned over $4 million from tournament poker alone.
