Fernandez Drops One
Mar 29, '14
There was a raise under-the-gun to 900 before a player in the hijack three-bet to 2,175. Joe Fernandez cold-called from the small blind and the player under-the-gun folded.
The flop was J109 and Fernandez check-called 2,475. The turn was the 4 and Fernandez check-called again, this time 5,000. The river is the Q and Fernandez throws 20,000 into the middle, which put his opponent all in for his last 7,800.
His opponent took a few moments before calling. Fernandez tabled AQ, good for a pair of queens and watched his chips get pushed across the table as his opponent showed K3, good for a straight.
Fernandez slips to 18,800 after the hand.

Joe Fernandez vs. Tanya Kirk
Mar 29, '14
Joe Fernandez raised to 800 from early position and was called by Tanya Kirk on the button and the big blind called as well.
The flop was J76 and the big blind checked. Fernandez bet 1,500 and was called by Kirk. The turn was the 3 and Fernandez fired 5,000 into the middle. Kirk took a few moments before min-raising to 10,000. Fernandez wasted little time in putting a stack of all his larger denomination chips into the middle, which totaled 29,000, leaving himself with just 2,000 behind. Kirk went into the tank for a few minutes.
“You have a set?” asked Kirk. “If you don’t, you’re in trouble.”
“You’re the only one I’m afraid of at this table,” said Fernandez. “You just keep running me over.”
Kirk took a few minutes before tossing her hand into the muck and Fernandez tabled KK.
“Glad I got away from that one,” said Kirk as she jokingly patted herself on the back. “I had your queens. I don’t know why I folded. I just had a weird feeling.”
