Maurice Hawkins raised to 1,500 from middle position and Jerome Hall called from the big blind. The two went heads up to a flop of Q96. Hall checked and Hawkins bet 1,700. Hall called and the turn was the 10. Hall moved all-in for 2,975 and Hawkins snap-called. Hall showed 87 and the dealer turned over the 9 on the river. Hawkins pushed his cards face down to the middle of the table and Hall doubled up.

There have been a number of peculiar chops in the last couple of minutes on the felt. In one hand Dennis Bergeron was all in with pocket tens on a short stack and got saved by the board. His opponent was ahead with pocket kings and he had Bergeron’s chip stack covered, but the board ran out 87456 for a straight. Chop-chop, Bergeron survived, but he is still in trouble on a short stack worth just 3,550.

One table over Maurice Hawkins and Wyatt Brown got in a battle with a board reading K627. Brown bet 4,200 from late position and Hawkins called on the cutoff. The river delivered the 3 and Brown fired out another 9,000. Hawkins called and flipped over 52. Brown held 42 and the two players chopped it up since neither of their kickers played. Brown held 41,000 after the hand and Hawkins was at 52,000.

Maurice Hawkins Eliminates Jess Tucker

With a final board of K4392 Maurice Hawkins bet out 3,000 and Jess Tucker moved all-in for around 26,000. Tucked called almost instantly, flipping up the A5 for the wheel. Tucker mucked and Hawkins raked in the sizable pot to build his stack to just under 60,000.

Tucker raised to 350 from middle position and action folded around to the player in the small blind. The small blind called and Hawkins called from the big blind. The player to his left called as well and the four saw a flop of 1064. The small blind checked, Hawkins bet 425, the player to his left folded and Tucker called.

The turn was the 7 and Hawkins tossed out a massive bet of 1,075. Tucker called and the river was the K. Hawkins bet 100 and Tucker snap-called.

Both players pushed their cards to the center face down but the cards had to be turned over to declare a winner. Hawkins reluctantly showed 52 and Tucker showed 73 for a pair of sevens to take the pot.

With a board of KJ4 the player in the big blind checked, Evan Teitelbaum bet 4,500 and Maurice Hawkins called. The big blind called as well and the turn brought the 7. The big blind checked, Teitelbaum checked and Hawkins fired out a bet of 7,200. The big blind folded and Teitelbaum called. The river brought the 5, Teitelbaum checked and Hawkins slid out a stack of 1k-and-lower chips that equaled a bet of 22,100.

After some consideration Teitelbaum made the call and Hawkins revealed his 98 for a turned flush. Teitelbaum showed his K5 for two pair and mucked. Hawkins raked in the sizable pot and built his stack to 107,000.
