Updates on Final Day (Apr 23, 09)

Dragan Galic Eliminated in Fifth Place (€314,000)

Dragan GalicConstant Rijkenberg raises and Dragan Galic (pictured left) moves all in for two million and his tournament life.

He flips over 9 9 and Rijkenberg has A Q. The board creates a tremendous reaction as it falls K J 10. Unbelievably, Rijkenberg has flopped another straight. The turn is the 3 and Galic is drawing dead as the river comes the 10.

Galic maintained the chip lead in this tournament for three whole days, and it was hoped that he could go all the way and see it through. However, Constant Rijkenberg has put the Croatian out of EPT San Remo in fifth place for €314,000.

Playing Small Ball

William Reynolds raises to 140,000 in early position. Kalle Niemi on the big blind calls and the flop is 6 3 2.

Both players check and the turn is the 6. Both check again and the river is the Q.

Niemi: 97

Reynolds takes a small spot of 330,000.

Kalle Niemi Doubles Up

Kalle Niemi is all in for 945,000 and William reynolds asks for a count. He then announces, "Call."

Reynolds holds A8 and Niemi has JJ.

The board comes 10 6 6 bringing a flush draw for Reynolds. The turn helps Niemi out a lot with the 6 as it gives Niemi a house  - sixes filled with jacks.  All Niemi needs to avoid on the river is an ace. The 2 falls and Niemi doubles through Reynolds.

Break Time

The players are now on their first final table15 minute break.

Reynolds Rakes Some in

Constant RijkenbergThings went a little crazy just now on a board of 10 3 2 Q. William Reynolds shoved all-in and Constant Rijkenberg (pictured right) called with K-Q. Reynolds revealed pocket tens for the set and Rijkenberg's brash call cost him a hefty amount of chips. The 8 did nothing to help on the river. Rijkenberg continues to aggressively push, call, and gamble.

Ovidiu Balaj Eliminated in Sixth Place (€229,000)

Ovidiu Balaj is all-in for 640,000 in chips, and William Reynolds shoves over the top of him.

Balaj shows pocket nines, and Reynolds, pocket sixes. The cards are dealt 6 3 2 giving Reynolds a set. He smiles and says, "Don't resuck me please!" The turn is the A and the river is the 4.

Romanian Balaj is the sixth place finisher and goes home with 229,000 for his efforts.

Alex FitzgeraldAlexander Fitzgerald (pictured right) pushes all-in and William Reynolds calls. Fitzgerald shows A K and Reynolds shows pocket jacks. The board comes 10 6 2 8 2 and Reynolds wins 1,280,000. Fitzgerald is left with less than three big blinds.

The young American shoves in the very next hand for 135,000. Dragan Galic is next to act, both he and Ovidiu Balaj call. The flop is 10 3 2 and Galic bets 150,000 while staring at Balaj. Balaj looks him in the eye and after two minutes he folds showing his hand (which we don't have the privilege of seeing).

The cards are revealed:

Fitzgerald: K9X

The turn is the Q and the river is a brick. Galic's paired tens hold up and Fitzgerald leaves the tournament in seventh place for €171,000.

Rijkenberg Gets Lucky

William ReynoldsA massive hand just broke out involving Constant rijkenberg once again. He raises the blinds and William Reynolds (pictured right) reraises to 332,000. It's 210,000 more for Rijkenberg to call, and after a few moments thought he moves all-in. Reynolds, who many feel is the strongest player on the table, snap-calls. He shows A K and Rijkenberg flips over Q-J.

The flop is dealt 10 9 8. It is met with shock and cheers around the entire casino from the press room to the floor. The turn is the 2 and the river, the K.

Rijkenberg now has 3,785,000.

Balaj Doubles Up

Ovidiu Balaj moves all-in with A-Q and Constant Rijkenberg calls with A-7.

The flop brings a pair for Rijkenberg: 10 7 3 but the turn gives the best hand the higher ground with the Q. The river doesn't change anything, sealing the deal with the 5.

Balaj doubles up to 850,000.
