With a safe river card firmly on the felt, Joseph Cada leaped into the air in celebration but quickly separated himself from his throng of supporters to shake Darvin Moon’s hand.
The crowd continued to chant “Joey! Joey! Joey!” as Jeffrey Pollack introduced the new, youngest Main Event champion in poker history to the crowd.
Cada took the mic and shook off a tear or two before thanking his legion of friends, family and fans in the audience. With that, he hoisted the bracelet over his head, much to the delight of everyone in the theater.

Cada showed 99 and they were off to the races. The flop came down 872 and Cada’s camp went wild.
Cada stood away from the table, burying his face in Cliff Josephy’s chest, unable to watch.
The turn was the K, giving both sides of the auditorium something to gasp at. With just six outs separating him from elimination, Moon watched as the 7 hit the river and a deafening roar moved throughout the theater.

Cada Strikes Back

The turn fell Q and Cada checked again. Moon bet 6 million and Cada raised to 16.75 million. Moon made the call and the river brought the 5. Cada bet 35 million right out of the gate and Moon went into the tank. Moon eventually mucked and the Cada fan club cheered its approval. Cada took back the chip lead with 120 million and Moon dropped down to 72 million.
The final two players have been reached and it took 276 hands to accomplish the feat. The final two are Joe Cada and Darvin Moon and they will return to the Penn and Teller Theater on Monday at 10 p.m. PST to decide who will walk away with $8,547,042 in prize and the title of world champion. Cada will become the youngest main event champion ever if he wins, and Moon could be the next Moneymaker to walk away with the top prize in poker.
