Updates on Final Day (Jun 24, 07)

Tom Dobrilovic WinsEvent #13 ($85,120)! Mikael Thuritz Eliminated in 2nd Place ($47,290)

Wow that was quick.  Mikael Thuritz raised to $6,000 from the button and Dobrilovic called.  The flop was J 8 4, Dobrilovic checked, Thurtiz bet $10,000 and Dobrilovic moved all in.  After about two minutes, Thuritz made the call and showed A 8, but  Dobrilovic showed A A.  The turn and the river fell 3 3, and Dobrilovic claimed victory yet again here at the Bellagio Cup III.  The final table only lasted 40 minutes.

Dobrilovic is definitely running hot, as he made a final table earlier this year at the Event #27 at the World Series.  Thuritz, who finished in 41st place last year in the Main Event at he World Series earned $47,290 for 2nd today.  Dobrilovic takes home $85,120 for his victory, but because the prize pool was below $200,000 he does not win a seat in the WPT Championship.  Forturnately he's already locked one up.

Rick Salomon Eliminated in 4th Place ($18,905)

On the very next hand Rick Salomon raised to $9,000 from button, and Tom Dobrilovic called from the big blind.  The flop came J 10 9, Dobrilovic checked and Salomon bet $22,000. Dobrilovic, raised to $60,000, and Salomon announced call, but pushed all of his chips in the middle.  The raise was counted out and the rest of his chips were returned to him. The turn was the 9 and Salomon got the rest of his chips in he showed 8 8, while Dobrilovic was ahead with A 10. The river was the 2, and Salomon was eliminated in 4th place earning $18,905.

Jean-Claude Perrot Eliminated in 5th place ($9,460)

It took ten hands, but we finally have our first show down.  Jean-Claude Perrot raised to $6,000 from the button, and Tom Dobrilovic called from the big blind.  The flop is Q 9 6, Dobrilovic checks, Perrot bets $10,000, and Dobrilovic calls.  The turn is the 9 and both players check.  The river is the 10 and Dobrilovic bets $15,000.  Perrot calls and slams his cards down when Dobrilovic turns over 9 3 for trips.

Two hands later Perrot moves all in under the gun for his last $19,000.  Rick Salomon makes the call from the big blind.  Perrot shows A 8, and Salomon has 9 7.  Salomon takes the lead on the flop J 9 4, Perrot regains it with the A on the turn, and falls victim to trip nines again as Salomon spikes the 9 on the river. Perrot is eliminated in 5th place earning $9,460.
