Updates on Final Day (Jun 20, 05)

Denis Ethier Wins Event #18 ($2,000 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo Split)

Denis Ethier wins Event #18 ($2,000 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo Split), earning $160,682 and a coveted World Series of Poker bracelet. Chad Brown finishes in second place, earning $89,838.

It's Over!

After 3 hours of heads up play it is finally over. Denis Ethier had two pair, but trailed Chad Brown's two pair. Ethier hit a 5 on the river to improve to a full house, fives full of two's. Now, Brown needed a 8, to make a bigger full house. Brown could also split the pot with any card under an 8. The cash card though was a jack, and Ethier wins the gold bracelet. Brown earns $89,838 for second, but Ethier gets $160,682 and a bracelet for first.

Ethier Takes Control, for the 3rd Time

Again, Denis Ethier has taken control and got Chad Brown down to the felt. The last few times Brown has come back, can he do it again?

Brown Right Back

Just when Chad Brown seems to be done, he comes back. This time Brown made two pair and all but doubled up back to $95,000.

Denis Ethier Takes Control Again

For the second time tonight Denis Ethier has taken control. Chad Brown had done a nice job getting back into this match, but following a Ethier scoop, Brown is back in trouble. Ethier's straight may have swung this match back in his favor.

He Lives

Chad Brown once left for dead with under $40,000, is now up to $150,000. Brown has been winning almost every pot, and is gaining momentum. This may go on longer than originally thought.

Staying Alive

Chad Brown will not go down with out a fight. Brown has been winning some small pots and picking his spots, but staying alive.

All But Over

Chad Brown is in trouble. Brown is down to about $40,000, and needs a miracle to come back.

Chip Counts

1. Denis Ethier - $475,000
2. Chad Brown - $80,000

Short Break

The players are on a short break to race off the $500 chips. When the players return, the ante is $2,000, and the bring in is $2,000. The limits have increased though to $6,000-$12,000.
