5 of the Best Arizona Sportsbooks

Let’s take a closer look at the best sites for Arizona sports betting online.

1. BetOnline – The Best Overall Online Arizona Sportsbook

  • Founded: 2001
  • License: Panama

betonline sport logo

  • Odds– You simply won’t find better odds on the country’s favorite sports – notably NFL, NHL and NBA – at any other sportsbook in AZ. The number of lines and props on these games is also unmatched.
  • Sports Coverage: BetOnline covers more than 25 of the world’s most popular sports, including cricket, soccer and tennis. There’s also an in-depth esports offering, as well as horse racing and collegiate events.
  • Features: There are few negatives when it comes to BetOnline, but the lack of a cashout feature is one. That aside, everything you’d expect to find is here: live betting, odds boosts and same game parlays.
  • Promotions: Newcomers receive a free wager welcome bonus, which is as generous as it is rare. Other sportsbook promos are thin on the ground – though several exist for the casino and poker room – but there’s a decent loyalty program.
  • Banking: Most of the site’s payment methods are cryptocurrencies, with the likes of BTC, ETH and USDT facilitating withdrawals in under 12 hours. You can deposit with Visa, Mastercard, Discover and AmEx for a fee, but you can’t withdraw.
  • Site Design: The intuitive betslip is nicely designed, though the sportsbook lacks a search option. There are no native Android or iOS apps, but the mobile site is fully responsive and is remarkably user-friendly.

Pros

  • Fastest crypto sportsbook payouts in AZ
  • User-friendly navigation and site design
  • Comprehensive US and international coverage
  • Best site for NFL and NHL odds

Cons

  • Hefty charges for card deposits
  • No early cashout feature

Our Verdict

Although it’s based offshore, BetOnline is your best option for sports betting in Arizona. You’ll struggle to find a competitor offering better prices on NFL, NHL and MLB lines, whether located in the US or not.

We’d appreciate a cashout button, but we’re really splitting hairs if that’s our only gripe. The truth is, BetOnline outshines all other sportsbooks in the areas that matter: sports coverage, market depth and consistently competitive odds.

  • Live betting markets for major sports
  • Daily odds boosts
  • $15,000 daily cash races

2. BetNow – Simple Arizona Sports Betting Site Known for Rebates

  • Founded: 2004
  • License: Panama

Benow Sports logo

  • Odds – Both the live betting and pre-game odds are pretty good, even if the site is light on sports to choose from. The football and baseball odds are in-line with the best bookies, plus you can build your own parlays.
  • Sports Coverage: BetNow isn’t especially comprehensive. The market depth is great, but there are usually fewer than ten sports on site. Still, all of the USA’s most popular competitions, like the NFL, NBA and MLB, are represented, plus esports.
  • Features: Putting it simply, this isn’t the most feature-rich site. BetNow prides itself on being a straightforward sportsbook with a retro-feel. Although you won’t find shiny apps and complex gizmos, you can bet in-play and design your own props.
  • Promotions: BetNow has a strong selection of promos, including a competitive signup offer, friend referral reward and reload bonus. However, a standout feature is the cashback rebates. Get up to 10% on horses and 2% on other sports.
  • Banking: Expect instant deposits and quick withdrawals at BetNow, thanks to five different cryptocurrency options. It’s also possible to transfer money between player accounts.
  • Site Design: BetNow is minimalist and could use a lick of virtual paint. but, we like substance over style, and the basic but intuitive design makes for easy navigation and quick loading times.

Pros

  • Strong coverage of top US leagues
  • Speedy and fee-free crypto payouts
  • Unmatched cashback rebates
  • Popular esports competitions available

Cons

  • Would benefit from more sports
  • Not the prettiest sportsbook in AZ

Our Verdict

Founded in 2004, this operator has bags of experience and knows exactly what a bettor is looking for. There are no gimmicks, just generous odds on the most popular sports and games.

Although it’s not the most polished of sites, it’s extremely functional. Despite the retro vibe, it’s possible to bet on esports. BetNow is also one of the few AZ sportsbooks that offers cashback rebates on all sports, alongside a number of more traditional bonuses.

  • Regular contests with big-money prizes
  • 2% rebate program for sports
  • Tips for major league sports

3. MyBookie – Leading Arizona Sports Betting Site for Bonuses

  • Founded: 2014
  • License: Panama

MyBookie sports logo

  • Odds – MyBookie is owned and operated by the same team behind BetOnline. As such, you can expect equally competitive odds, with only minor differences from its sister site. Football, basketball and hockey are where it really excels.
  • Sports Coverage: There’s nothing you can’t find at MyBookie. Everything is here, from traditional leagues like the NFL and MLB, to modern favorites like esports, via niche sports like Aussie rules, futsal and handball.
  • Features: MyBookie checks most of the right boxes, including standard features like live betting, streaming and same game parlays. Look out, too, for fun novelties like Money Bag picks and My Squares.
  • Promotions: This is where MyBookie really shines. New players have a choice of signup bonuses, giving you a degree of flexibility. You’ll also find a reload bonus, referral reward, up to 8% racing cashback and several contests with big prizes.
  • Banking: The cashier features an average number of payment options, most of which are cryptocurrency coins. You can deposit using major bank cards, but crypto withdrawals are both free and ultra-quick. Expect a same day payment.
  • Site Design: This is another bookie with a simplistic design, not entirely dissimilar to that of BetNow. It may be a little old-fashioned, and you won’t find a native app for download. But it’s very easy to use, especially on mobile.

Pros

  • Odds in line with best sportsbooks
  • Loads of bonuses, promos and contests
  • User-friendly mobile interface
  • Interesting features like Money Bag

Cons

  • Not enough live streams
  • No option for early cashout

Our Verdict

If you want an Arizona sports betting that looks after the regulars, MyBookie is the one. The selection of welcome bonuses is excellent. But the loyalty program, 8% horse racing cashback rebate and 25% reload bonus are just a few of the standout ongoing promotions.

You can also look out for some really interesting features, like the $100,000 NFL Super Contest, Survivor and My Squares games. Not to mention Money Bag picks.

  • 30+ sports betting categories
  • Weekly rakeback through loyalty program
  • Early cashouts available

4. BetUS – Best AZ Sports Betting Referral Bonus

  • Founded: 1994
  • License: Mwali, Comoros Union

Betus logo

  • Odds – BetUS isn’t far behind BetOnline when it comes to odds. It’s often best priced on many NFL, NBA and NHL teams, though it does lack in some of the more niche international events. It also tends to put lines up quite early.
  • Sports Coverage: We’re not aware of any sports betting sites in the USA, never mind Arizona, that offer more sports. There’s usually at least 30 to pick from on the BetUS website at any given time.
  • Features: Cashout is available, along with same game parlays and live streaming courtesy of BetUS TV. The site is also known for its longshot futures bets.
  • Promotions: The BetUS promos tab has lost of great deals for reloads. And the bonus value goes up if you use cryptocurrency.
  • Banking: Although other sportsbooks offer more payment methods, few are as quick to pay as BetUS, particularly when using cryptocurrency. You can also request a bank wire, if you’re so inclined.
  • Site Design: The mobile-first site is fully responsive, ensuring seamless transitions between desktop, tablet and smartphone. The predominantly white design is crisp and clean, while the blue color scheme looks sharp and modern.

Pros

  • No betting site covers more sports
  • In-depth market coverage with great odds
  • Best betting insights of all AZ sportsbooks
  • Well-designed site that looks modern

Cons

  • Extra payment methods would be appreciated

Our Verdict

The coverage at BetUS is exceptional, with over 30 sports to choose from and excellent depth for most. Bet on all of your favorite Arizona sports teams, as well as thousands of far-flung competitions across the globe.

Fast payments are standard at BetUS, courtesy of a number of crypto payment options. Use these and you’ll also benefit from a healthy selection of enhanced deposit bonuses. While the incredible friend referral bonus is one of the craziest offers we’ve ever seen.

  • Massive re-up crypto bonuses
  • Industry-leading tips and game previews
  • Super fast payouts via crypto

5. XBet – Top Arizona Sports Betting Site for Soccer

  • Founded: 2014
  • License: Curacao

xbet new logo

  • Odds – The main reason we’ve included XBet in our list is the competitive odds, notably on US leagues. But, you’ll also find generous prices on soccer matches, domestic horse racing and several other international sports.
  • Sports Coverage: Not many bookies can match XBet when it comes to football props. Open any NFL game and tap “more wagers” to find yourself scrolling for a long time. The depth is just as good for all traditional US sports and soccer too.
  • Features: We particularly enjoyed the Random Bet Generator. That aside, XBet is fairly standard in terms of features. There’s live betting, but no streaming, for instance. But you can build your own props and parlays, and the betslip works well.
  • Promotions: There’s a decent selection of ongoing promos for regulars, including a 7% horse racing rebate and crypto reload bonuses. You may choose your welcome reward, but both have some of the lowest wagering requirements we know of.
  • Banking: This is a crypto-focussed betting site, so all of the deposit options are digital tokens. Payments are fast, as a result. However, you can still request an old-school bank wire withdrawal if you’re happy to wait up to seven business days.
  • Site Design: If you know MyBookie, you’ll recognize the look-and-feel of XBet, as the two are sister sites. It’s not what you’d call contemporary. But it functions perfectly well on mobile and desktop, especially the user-friendly betslip and search feature.

Pros

  • Consistently generous odds on most sports
  • Strong market depth on key leagues
  • Fast payouts via cryptocurrency
  • Interesting Random Bet Generator

Cons

  • Unappealing color scheme
  • No live sports streaming

Our Verdict

XBet is our final recommendation for Arizona sports betting online, and it’s particularly good when it comes to US sports. Few sites offer more NFL props or better football odds, for example. However, the site is also packed with soccer markets whose odds are extremely competitive.

A redesign wouldn’t go amiss, as the vibrant green and purple really offends our eyes. But if that’s all we’re complaining about, this experienced operator is obviously doing pretty well.

  • Lots of regular reload bonuses
  • Tips and previews on Xbet blog
  • Secure crypto banking options

Is Sports Betting Legal in Arizona?

Sports betting in Arizona is perfectly legal, both online and in a retail setting. It launched in 2021 around the same time as Florida sports betting, and has consistently kept pace with the country’s biggest states for sports betting handle.

Arizona Sports Betting Timeline

  • May 2018 – PASPA (the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act) is struck down by the US Supreme Court, permitting states to legalize sports betting.

Bonuses and Promotions at Arizona Sportsbooks

A key driver behind the popularity of betting is the number of AZ sportsbook promos. Keep your eyes peeled for the following offers in the Grand Canyon State.

Welcome Bonuses

Given the industry’s competitive nature, you’ll find a signup incentive at all Arizona sports betting sites.

This might be a first deposit match bonus or a free bet, but it’s often a “no sweat bet”. Here, your first real money bet is refunded as a bonus if it doesn’t win.

Reload Bonuses

Lots of the best sportsbooks, particular those based offshore, offer a regular supply of reload bonuses. These are rewards for topping up your account and are usually a percentage of the amount deposited.

For example, a 25% reload bonus adds $12.50 worth of bonus bets to your account based on a $50 deposit.

Cashback

One of the newest sports betting bonuses in Arizona, cashback is a rebate on losing bets. Make a loss during the promotional period – usually a week or a month – and you’ll get a specified percentage of those funds back.

This refund is sometimes in the form of free bets, but may come as cash, depending on the site.

Free Bets

As the name suggests, this is a virtual token that allows you to bet with no deductions from your balance. You’ll only keep the profits if you win, not the stake, but it’s literally risk-free.

Many Arizona sports betting sites award free bets to new registrants, while others had them out to loyal bettors.

No Deposit Bonuses

These are really hard to find nowadays and you’re more likely to get them at online casinos. However, in theory, they’re some of the most rewarding bonuses around.

A no deposit bonus is usually reserved for new players, but could be part of a loyalty program. The funds are credited to your account without needing to deposit or bet a single cent.

Odds Boosts

One of the most common AZ sportsbook promos, an odds boost may come in two forms.

Some sites provide bettors with tokens, allowing them to enhance the odds on a bet of their choosing. More commonly, the bookie simply increases selected odds in a happy hour-style promo.

VIP and Loyalty Rewards

All of the Arizona sportsbook promos mentioned so far are isolated offers. However, the best sites provide a structured VIP program that rewards customer loyalty.

You know the drill – it’s like air miles. The more you spend placing bets, the higher you’ll climb the ranks. This earns you benefits like enhanced support, personalized bonuses and bigger reload bonuses.

Wager Types at AZ Sports Betting Sites

People in Arizona love to get involved with sports betting online. But what exactly are they wagering on? Let’s find out.

Moneyline

Found at all Arizona sports betting sites, the moneyline is the simplest market, regardless of the competition.

There are no handicaps or totals involved. All you need to do is pick the winner.

Point Spread

Because some teams are far superior to others, the bookmaker will offer the underdog a handicap. This brings the odds closer, making for a more competitive line.

For instance, the Suns would likely be favorites against the Hornets. The bookie might give Phoenix a -4.5 handicap, for instance. In that case, they’d need to win by 5 or more for the bet to land.

Totals (Over/Under)

This is a fictional total set by the bookie and it’s your job to guess higher or lower. That’s why these markets are usually dubbed “Over/Under”.

The Diamondbacks game might have a Total Runs line of 5.5, for example. If you bet over, the combined score of both teams must be 6 or more to win.

Props

These are bets relating to specific events within a game. They may be for an entire team, or an individual player.

You might want to bet on James Conner’s rushing yards, for instance, or Grayson Allen’s successful 3-pointers.

Parlays

The most popular way to gamble at Arizona sports betting sites, parlays give you a shot at big wins from a small stake.

By combining several bets into one, you make it harder to win – if just one of the picks lets you down, the bet loses. But the rewards are also multiplied, leading to sizable potential returns.

Local Teams for Sports Betting in Arizona

If you’re from Arizona then the chances are you love your sport, and this fact undoubtedly plays a role in the success of the local betting industry.

Here are the most popular sports teams in the Grand Canyon State that pull in lots of action at AZ sportsbooks.

Arizona Cardinals (NFL)
Although the franchise began life in Chicago, way back in 1898, the Cardinals have been based out of Arizona since 1988. They’ve enjoyed a degree of success, too. In 2009, for instance, the team narrowly lost the 2009 Super Bowl to the Steelers.
Phoenix Suns (NBA)
Arizona’s biggest sports team, the Phoenix Suns were founded in 1968. Although they’re yet to win a championship, they’ve made the finals on three occasions, losing out in 1976, 1993, and 2021. They play home games at the Footprint Center.
Spoiler title
Formed in 1998 as an expansion team, the Arizona Diamondbacks wasted little time in securing their first World Series title. In 2001, they triumphed over the Yankees in seven games. The Diamondbacks are based at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix.
Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB)
Formed in 1998 as an expansion team, the Arizona Diamondbacks wasted little time in securing their first World Series title. In 2001, they triumphed over the Yankees in seven games. The Diamondbacks are based at Chase Field in downtown Phoenix.
Arizona Coyotes (NHL)
Originally the Winnipeg Jets, the franchise relocated in 1996, where it was rebranded as the Coyotes. They’re yet to win a Stanley Cup, despite a number of playoff appearances, but they boast a strong following. All Arizona sports betting sites offer odds on Coyotes games.
Phoenix Mercury (WNBA)
The Phoenix Mercury were set up in 1997 as one of the eight original WNBA franchises. They’re among the most successful teams, claiming championships in 2007, 2009 and 2014. Like the Suns, they’re based in the Footprint Center, Phoenix.
Phoenix Rising FC (USL)
The USL Championship is the second tier of US soccer behind the MLS. Launched in 2011, Phoenix Rising joined the roster of teams six years later, reaching the championship final in just their second season. In doing so, they set a seasonal record, securing 75 points.

Best AZ Sportsbooks by Sport

You’ve seen the best sportsbooks in the Grand Canyon State. But in this section, we’ll break things down by the most popular AZ sports.

Best Arizona Sports Betting Site for NFL

The most-watched sport in the USA is football, and the Super Bowl is undoubtedly the biggest individual Arizona sports betting event of the year. For the biggest variety of player props and betting lines, as well as the country’s best NFL odds, BetOnline takes the crown.

  • Live betting markets for major sports
  • Daily odds boosts
  • $15,000 daily cash races

Best Arizona Sportsbook for NBA

Basketball consistently appears in the top three most popular US sports, while the Phoenix Suns are Arizona’s most popular sports franchise. Although Bovada and BetOnline excel with their live and pre-game NBA product, we marginally prefer BetWhale for basketball betting thanks to its great odds and markets.

  • Lots of in-play betting markets
  • Fast payout options via crypto
  • 24/7 customer support

Best AZ Sports Betting Site for MLB

Naturally, “America’s pastime” is also one of the most popular AZ sports to watch and palace bets. Especially since the Diamondbacks won the World Series. Although Bovada is more commonly associated with soccer betting, it actually offers a fantastic MLB product range, too and has some of the best options for props betting.

  • Features full casino and racebook

Best AZ Sportsbook for NHL

Hockey has a solid following in the Grand Canyon State, and the Coyotes are the fifth-most popular team in Arizona. If you’re among that number, and you want to show your support with a bet, Everygame is the country’s leading hockey sportsbook thatnks to its reduced juiced on NHL bets.

Arizona Sports Betting Payment Methods

There wouldn’t be any online sports betting in Arizona without cold hard cash. Let’s take a closer look at how bettors in the Grand Canyon State are funding their accounts.

  • Credit and Debit Cards. Big-name brands like Visa and Mastercard remain the most common way to deposit online. They’re familiar, secure and reliable, but it’s not the quickest way to get paid, as you may need to wait up to a week.
  • Cryptocurrency. By far the fastest way to receive a payout, digital currencies like bitcoin, ethereum and tether are increasingly popular. They also offer a layer of anonymity that no other option can provide. But you’ll only find them at offshore sportsbooks and offshore casinos.
  • eWallets. Online wallets like Neteller and Skrill can’t be found at every sportsbook. But they’re usually extremely fast, with instant deposits and withdrawals processed in under 48 hours. Watch out though, as some sites charge fees.
  • Online Banking. Bank wires are probably the slowest and costliest way to withdraw, aside from checks. But advancements in fintech mean that many sites now offer quicker ACH e-checks and rapid transfers. Fees are usually still attached, though.

How to Pick a Site for Sports Betting in Arizona

There’s plenty to consider when trying to choose between the many different Arizona sports betting sites. However, if you apply these expert tips, you can’t go wrong.

  • Look for feedback from bettors. As important as it is to read reviews from industry experts like us, there’s no substitute for customer feedback. Check sites like TrustPilot to build up a picture of how the user experience really is.
  • Speak to the support team. Registering with a betting site before assessing the performance of the support agents is a rookie mistake. Make sure they’re accessible, knowledgeable and helpful, because you never know when a problem might strike.
  • Shop around for the best odds. Just as you’d try to find the cheapest clothes, groceries or home furnishings, it’s important to take the best odds. Make use of odds comparison tools and join whichever site is giving you the best value.
  • Scope out the loyalty program. Finding the best odds is one thing. But in such a competitive environment, why stick around? Unless there’s a continued source of free bets and other perks, there’s simply no reason to be loyal.
  • Check for local promotions. The best sportsbooks in Arizona tailor their experience to a local audience. Look out for enhanced odds on local teams, plus chances to win tickets to see the likes of the Suns, Cardinals and Diamondbacks.

Arizona Sports Betting Law and Regulations

As already discussed, retail and online sports betting in Arizona was legalized in 2021. This came into pass when Governor Doug Ducey signed HB2772, which was a substitute bill from a previous one (SB1797).

This law recognized the Arizona Department of Gaming as the official body in charge of the new Arizona sports betting sector. It also created scope for as many as 20 sports betting licenses to exist within the Grand Canyon State.

10 of these licenses were given to professional sports teams and organizations in Arizona, while the other 10 were left for competing Native American tribes to forge agreements with the state.

Here are some key aspects of the law as it exists today:

  • Every license holder can offer a single retail sportsbook and up to two online sports betting brands.
  • Sportsbooks must pay $100,000 to apply for a license; $750,000 for their initial license; and $150,000 to renew each year.
  • Pro sports teams are allowed to partner with racetracks in the state to offer an additional retail facility. However, they must gain approval as limited event wagering operators.
  • Limited event wagering operators must pay $1,000 for their applications; $10,000 for their licenses; and $5,000 to renew.
  • The state does not permit college prop bets on teams or individuals.
  • The state taxes online wagers at 10% and retail wagers at 8%.

How Does Arizona Sports Betting Compare to Neighboring States?

It is always interesting to take a look at how sports betting in one state compares to a neighboring one. Of course, in this case, Arizona neighbors the worldwide home of gambling in Las Vegas, Nevada, so there are some differences.

In the case of sports betting, though, most of the same bets you can find in Las Vegas can be found in Arizona as well. Both states offer retail, online and mobile sports betting.

The main two differences are that Nevada requires in-person registration in order to sign up for online sportsbooks, whereas Arizona does not. On the flipside, Nevada permits college prop bets, whereas Arizona is yet to do so.

Nevada’s tax rate is also a little lower at 6.75% on all gross gambling revenue, meaning Arizona may be losing certain custom to its neighbors.

Elsewhere, California has regularly rejected sports betting proposals in recent years, with only daily fantasy sports and horse racing betting permitted. Utah prohibits all forms of gambling, while New Mexico allows retail betting but is yet to legalize online or mobile betting.

Offshore vs. State-Licensed AZ Sportsbooks

Unlike other markets like Texas sports betting, there are two different approaches to sports betting in Arizona: those licensed locally, by the Arizona Department of Gaming, or operators based overseas.

ADG-Licensed

Any sportsbook with a license from the Arizona Department of Gaming is 100% safe and legal.

In the unlikely event of a dispute with your chosen site, you’ll always be able to turn to the regulator for assistance. In addition, you know that your money will be safe and that the sportsbook is regularly audited to ensure they’re following industry best practices.

Offshore Sportsbooks

Conversely, there are hundreds of online sportsbooks headquartered outside of the USA. These operate within a legal gray area. Being based overseas means they are not subject to local state laws.

Such brands have licenses, and usually from the most well-respected international regulators, so you’re assured of a safe and secure experience. It’s just that they don’t have accreditation from the ADG specifically.

This is actually a benefit, though, as it means they’re not as restricted. That’s why you’ll see far bigger bonuses, better odds and many more markets at offshore betting sites than state-licensed sportsbooks in Arizona.

Many of these sites are also no verification betting sites which means that you can sign up and place bets without having to provide any personal information.

Arizona Sports Betting – Roundup

There’s a ton of information in this guide to online sports betting in Arizona, but here are the key points to remember.

It’s Completely Legal

Both retail and online sports betting in Arizona were legalized in 2021. The first sites launched in September of that year. You also have offshore sites that have been available in the state for many years prior to this.

Bookies Are Big Business

Since launching, Arizona consistently features among the biggest markets in the country. The total 2023 handle was a little under $6.6 billion, down slightly on the $6.7 billion in 2022.

Better Choices Overseas

Despite the availability of state-licensed AZ sportsbooks, there are better options outside the US. These offshore sites operate via a legal loophole, but they tend to provide bigger bonuses and better odds. We rate BetOnline as the top Arizona sports betting site.
