The 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles were a 12.5-point favorite on Sunday against the lowly Carolina Panthers, who were 3-9 entering the game. However, the Panthers proved to be tough customers and were driving late in the game to try and take the lead with the Eagles leading 22-16 .

A 32-yard pass to wide receiver Xavier Legette looked like it would set the Panthers up right on the Eagles’ goal line, but was ruled incomplete as the ball appeared to come loose and hit the ground first.

That drop proved very profitable for one bettor in Kentucky, who placed a moneyline bet of $3.1 million with Circa Sports at -700. The bettor stood to make $442,000 if Philly came out on top, but this came at quite a risk for such a small payout.

Circa owner Derek Stevens said on Sunday that the wager was the largest the company had ever seen. However, the loss was offset by wagering on the Panthers to cover the sizable betting line.

“We got a lot of buyback on Carolina, but what was crazy, we had a lot of people pile onto the Eagles,” Stevens told ESPN. “At kickoff, Circa Sports needs Carolina for a little bit. Ended up playing out okay.”

Prior to Sunday’s game, Stevens told VSiN that the company’s risk was “out of whack” when it came to moneyline wagering on the game and needed significant betting on Carolina to even out.

Circa made more news recently by posting a video displaying the highs and lows of the company’s $1,000 Circa Million NFL handicapping contest.

Two bettors needed the Washington Commanders to beat the Dallas Cowboys and looked to have a shot in the final seconds when Washington scored a touchdown with an extra point simply needed to tie the game. However, the kick sailed wide and the bettors missed out on a $150,000 quarterly bonus.
