100K Sole Survivor
Paddypowerpoker.com have revealed details of the 2010 Irish Open which will feature the €100,000 Sole Survivor promotion for the second year. You can qualify from as little as $0.50 on paddypowerpoker.com, with feeders running daily and super satellites each Sunday evening – grab your seat to one of Europe’s most prestigious and join in all the fun in Dublin this April! The Irish Open 2010, Europe’s longest-running tournament, will take place on April 2nd – 5th 2010. The buy-in is set at €3,200 + €300, with a Super Satellite scheduled for April 1st.

€100,000 Sole Survivor Promotion
In a move that is sure to be welcomed by those planning to qualify online, paddypowerpoker.com has launched its Sole Survivor qualifier promotion for a second year. This follows the promotion’s wildly successful introduction at the Irish Open 2009, where 32-year old German Marcel Koch won €100,000 for outlasting all other eligible players. The poker room also ran the IWF Sole Survivor promotion for its recent Irish Winter Festival, where the longestlasting online qualifier won a €20,000 package. All players who qualify on paddypowerpoker.com for the 2010 Irish Open will be eligible for participation and the player that becomes the ‘Sole Survivor’ by outlasting all other paddypowerpoker.com qualifiers in the tournament will win a €100,000 package (made up of cash and tournament entries). “Our qualifiers to the Irish Open 2009 were really excited about participating in the very first €100,000 Sole Survivor promo and it was great to find such a worthy winner as Marcel”, said Paddy Power, Communications Manager for paddypowerpoker.com. “We can’t wait to kick off the search for the next Sole Survivor; there are 100,000 reasons why it makes sense for players to qualify on paddypowerpoker.com and nowhere else!” The promotion really added to the atmosphere of both the Irish Open and Irish Winter Festival; as the numbers of paddypowerpoker.com qualifiers dwindled, all eyes were on those remaining to see who would become the Sole Survivor! Marcel Koch used part of his €100,000 package to take part in the recent European Poker Tour London event, where he finished a very credible 80th out of 730 runners for a £9,200 payday.

Irish Open 2009
The Irish Open 2009 attracted a larger-than-expected field of 700, including famous faces such as Phil Laak, Jennifer Tilly, Neil Channing, Marty Smyth, Andy Black, Jamie Gold, Dan Harrington, Juha Helppi, Roland De Wolfe and Ciaran O’Leary. The poker professionals were joined by amateurs who travelled from near and far to take part in Europe’s longest running tournament and soak up the friendly atmosphere in one of the world’s poker capitals! The final table featured a number of well-known players, including Canadian professional Andrew Pantling, but in the end the Terry Rogers Memorial Trophy was captured by Swedish poker professional Christer Johansson who won the title and €600,000, with the up-and-coming Kara Scott finishing in second place for €312,600.
