The PokerStars European Poker Tour has made a stop in Copenhagen during each of its seven seasons. The 2011 edition recently concluded, and once again, the Scandinavian players showed why they are some of the most successful players in the world. The tournament attracted a strong field of 449 players, which generated a prize pool of €2,023,496.

The final table of eight featured five Scandinavians, and the final two players were both Swedish professionals. Per Linde was the chip leader when the final table began, but he eventually fell to his countryman Michael Tureniec in the heads-up final. Linde took home €328,612 and 1,600 Card Player 2011 Player of the Year points, while Tureniec won the top prize of €496,271 and 1,920 points as the champion. This puts Tureniec in a tie for sixth place with Lucien Cohen (the EPT Deauville champion), and Linde is now in a three-way tie for 10th place with another Swede, Martin Jacobson, as well as Jeffrey Rossiter.

The career earnings for Tureniec now stand at $3,422,518. He came very close to winning an EPT title once before, when he took second place at the EPT London in 2008. He has one other tournament title in his career, in a Master Classics of Poker no-limit hold’em preliminary event in 2008.

John Eames was the third-place finisher at the final table, which was good for 1,280 POY points. He now resides in the top 20 in the standings. Another notable performance in Copenhagen was that of professional Juha Helppi, whose eighth-place finish earned him 320 POY points.

Here is a look at the prize money and POY points awarded at the final table in Copenhagen:

1 Michael Tureniec, Sweden €496,271 (1,920 points)
2 Per Linde, Sweden €328,612 (1,600 points)
