Tigran Manukynan is a regular at Hollywood Park casino in the limit games, but he cemented himself a permanent spot in Card Player Poker Tour history by winning the inaugural stop at the Los Angeles-area casino.
Manukyan bested a worthy opponent in Massoud Eskandari heads-up for the title, as he is also a regular in the Los Angeles-area tournament scene with over $834,000 in earnings.
The final hand of the CPPT Hollywood Park Westside Poker Championship played out with Manukyan completing from the small blind. When Eskandari shoved for 1.865 million, Manukyan called for what turned out to be the final showdown of the tournament. Eskandari showed Q9 and was behind Manukyan’s A6. A board of KK626 gave Manukyan not only a full-house, but the title of CPPT champion and $30,005.
Manukyan is the tenth and final champion of Season II of the CPPT and joined the ranks of nine other champions from 2014 including Ronnie Pease (Foxwoods, $91, 347), Austin Lewis (Choctaw, $183,025) and Shan Jing (Bicycle Casino, $135,981) to name a few.
With 345 entrants over three day ones the prize pool for the CPPT Westside Poker Championship exceeded the $100,000 guarantee, coming out to $103,500 total in the end.
