Dan Wagner Wins 2016 Card Player Poker Tour Seneca Main Event

Dan Wagner has won the 2016 Card Player Poker Tour Seneca Fall Poker Classic $1,000 no-limit hold’em main event. The West Seneca, NY based poker pro topped a field of 300 entries to win the $64,882 and become the latest CPPT champion.

In addition to the title and the money Wagner also scored 480 Card Player Player of the Year points, enough to move just outside of the top 200 in the standings. This was his third POY-qualified final table of the year, bringing his earnings to $157,629 so far on the year.

Wagner entered the final table as the chip leader with roughly 30 percent of the chips in play and he was able to utilize his chip advantage to convert that lead into a win.

Wagner eliminated Veerab Zakarian in third place ($29,394)) to take a massive 5-to-1 chip lead into a heads-up showdown against Cameron Bartolotta. Bartolottawas able to mount a small comeback early on, but eventually Wagner regained the momentum and had ground his opponent down to just 1.3 million in chips by the time the final hand arose.

With blinds at 25,000-50,000 with an ante of 5,000 Wagner made it 125,000 from the button. Bartolotta moved all in from the big blind and Wagner snap-called with the QQ. Bartolotta was in bad shape with his A9.

The board ran out J53910 to secure the pot and the title for Wagner, sending Bartolotta to the rail as the runner up with $40,781.

Wagner will now grace the cover of an upcoming issue of Card Player magazine as the latest winner on the Card Player Poker Tour!
